“Clients are proving to have less fear about trying darker colours, even those who have been lighter for years. The key to a brunette that still turns heads is rich, high-shine undertones and dimension,” says John. This look is the fastest way to lift sallow complexions. “It will instantly make your skin tone bright and your eyes pop,” which let’s face it, we all welcome at this time of the year.
Who it suits?
The best thing about going brunette, is, that it’s a universal hair colour that anyone can rock whether your hair is straight, curly, or coiled.
It has an endless shade spectrum, so all you need to decide (with the help of your colourist) is whether to keep your shade, warm or cool.
How to choose the perfect brown?
“Chocolate brown hair is a warm, medium-to-dark colour that suits all skin tones, but it’s especially flattering for those with warmer complexions as it brings out the gold and bronze undertones in your skin”, explains John. While cool brunette is “usually involves subtle highlights or lowlights to give depth and dimension to the hair.” Think ash brown and milk chocolate as opposed to dark chocolate. As a rule of thumb, cooler shades suit pale skin, while warmer shades suits olive, tanned and dark skin tones.
