And Just Like That Season 2 Is Almost Here
It’s time to join Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte (and Samantha!) again for even more of Sex And The City‘s sequel series And Just Like That. The show’s second season is nearly upon us, and a first trailer has recently dropped. Along with The Idol, it’s one of two big HBO shows heading our way in June. Set to come to HBO’s new streaming service Max in the US and Sky and NOW in the UK, the new season will pick up where things left off, with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) having launched a new podcast and moving past the death of her old lover Mr Big.
Everything you need to know about And Just Like That…’s Season 2
While it was initially unclear whether And Just Like That… would be a single miniseries (as originally described) or would be the start of something bigger, in reality, it was obvious that the women of Sex and the City would be back soon enough.
And Just Like That’s season 2 was commissioned last year following the show’s ratings success. There were some critical wobbles and a rather weird controversy with Peloton but HBO revealed it was one of their most-watched shows of 2021/22 and was keen for a new slate of episodes. The first season reintroduced us to Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), 11 years after Sex and the City 2 and now in their 50s. With Mr. Big being killed off in the first episode, Carrie set off to find herself again and a new purpose in life, eventually kicking off her own podcast.
Is Samantha Appearing In Season 2?
Season 2 is set to continue things for the three women, with Samantha (Kim Cattrall) now also confirmed, albeit for a brief cameo in the season finale. After years of firm “No’s” and stating that she was done with the character, news has escaped that Cattrall will once again be seen on screens in her most iconic role. Rather than waiting until the episode airs in August, it was recently leaked to Variety that Samantha would return, and subsequently confirmed by sources at HBO.
Before you get too ahead of yourselves, imagining the SATC four being back together again, there are some caveats. While Samantha will be back, she’ll only appear in one scene, and details are vague, but suggest she may not interact with Carrie, Charlotte or Miranda at all. Disagreements with storylines and behind the scenes mean that Cattrall doesn’t plan to stick around, so don’t expect her as a regular in a future season. But we can at least look forward to seeing an And Just Like That-era Samantha and where she is in life.
What The Trailer Revealed
A new trailer for the series was also dropped by HBO, so things are certainly livening up. And Just Like That’s second season was announced last year following the show’s ratings success. Season 2 is set to take the women in new directions in life. Where will the new outing take us? Carrie seems to have put Mr. Big and her relationship behind her, saying in the first teaser trailer that she’s been having “exit out of grief” sex and “I realised some things are better left in the past.” However, she follows this up with “maybe not everything…”, as ex-boyfriend Aidan (John Corbett) is seen stepping out of a taxi in his first appearance since the original run of Sex in the City- so Samantha isn’t the only familiar face returning.
Other plot points from the first season will be explored, including further development of the relationship between Miranda and Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez). Plus, Charlotte is curiously interested in being on “The MILF List” (“Our lunchtime fodder is not usually this lowbrow”, she quips).

There’s plenty to look forward to in Season 2 then, as the fab three (and briefly four) continue to navigate their not-always-smooth love lives. Will Carrie find herself falling in love again with another old flame? Find out when And Just Like That returns to screens on 22nd June.
