August Fashion Heroes

The Handbook Fashion Heroes is back for August, and at this slightly tricky time when shopping high-summer feels fruitless but autumn’s layers, knits and coats feels a little premature, we’ve got some stellar pieces to ease you into the new season. From ’70’s inspired sunnies (that will work year-round) to the perfect tailored trousers and a softer approach to power blazers, scroll on for what’s in store…

Sleeper’s Scallop-Edged Blazers
Known for their light as air, nighty-style dresses and cute co-ords, Ukranian brand Sleeper have smartened up for AW with these dreamy scallop-edged blazers. Wear now with matching shorts – we love this look for a warm weather wedding – and swap for the matching ’70’s style flares for a Bowie-worthy suit come autumn.
The quintessential summer brand have smarten up for autumn with these dreamy scallop-edged blazers.

Monikh Dale’s Farm Rio Blouse
Instagram star and stylist Monikh Dale can do little wrong in my eyes when it comes to fashion, and this week, she’s had me falling for Farm Rio’s boho poplin-blouse.
The sustainable brand draws inspiration from Rio de Janeiro – hence the name – so expect a riot of colour. Monikh gives it a more polished, city-appropriate spin by pairing with classic denim flares and The Row’s barely-there sandals.
An embroidered poplin blouse is a great way to transition summer’s boho look into the cooler months.

Sunnies by Velvet Canyon

If, like me, you’re suseptable to loosing or crushing your sunnies, finally(!) a brand that is cool and affordable. Velvet Canyon recently dropped at NET-A-PORTER and the aesthetic is inspired by vintage styles of the ‘60s and ‘70s. In short, a bit of me.
Granted, the frames start at just under £200 so they’re not cheap cheap, but maybe that will make me look after them a little better..?

Collared Bretons For All Budgets

A classic Breton will never date so it’s worthwhile investing. Khaite’s collared version is a riff on the trusty classic and while it’s eye-wateringly spenny, it will last a lifetime if looked after. Pair with cigarette pants and flat pumps for a Bardot-inspired look. For a thrifty alternative, ARKET do some of the most sumptuous, well-cute fabrics and cuts on the high street.
