Luxe Bathroom Accessories – How To Make Your Bathroom Feel Like A 5* Hotel

10th August 2023 | By Astrid Carter

Those fluffy white towels, miniature pots of luxury smellies and more marble than the Taj Mahal, when it comes to indulging yourself, nothing hits quite like a five star hotel bathroom. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t experience a little slice of that luxury in your own home so we’ve outlined all the styling tricks you need, from adding marble bathroom accessories to clever lighting and the products you need to know.

Start with hotel-worthy towels

Few things are as indulgent as cocooning fluffy hotel towels and adding them to your bathroom space will instantly create a five-star mood to start or finish your day in. Our tip? Always, always go white. They may not be as practical if you have little ones in the house or for makeup/fake tan incidents, but when have you ever seen a hotel that’s not bright white?

‌It’s worth investing in a high quality brand if you are after something that will last. Christy’s is a traditional British name that upholds the highest quality and provides bath linens for many luxury hotels and even the star players at Wimbledon. We also love Soho Home’s classic House Towel – well, if it’s good enough for Babington and The Ned. Whilst content creator Lindsay Holland’s foray into the bath towel sector is unexpected but excellent. Her brand, The Longing, creates generously sized towels (so big she calls them bath sheets) that are super fluffy, well priced and sustainably sourced.

Create clever storage space

If you have the space it is well worth investing in cabinetry or shelving for your space, as this is what is going to take it from modest home bathroom to spa-like five-star luxury.

‌Think beautiful wooden and rattan cabinets that you can use as a decorative space on top and hide away excess shampoos and fresh towels inside; open shelving that can showcase your best products; or reclaimed wooden benches like this one from Tikamoon, which serves as a space to keep extra linens but also to sit whilst you pamper yourself.

‌For an affordable option that belies its humble price tag, IKEA’s Ivar shelving unit has rattan effect doors so you still get that open shelving feel, but is a little more concealed and practical to hide away the not-so-aesthetic pieces like toilet roll and hair tools.

Invest in lightning

Whether you opt for a statement ceiling light or dainty sconces either side of the mirror, lighting is the easiest way to transform the mood of any room. We love the cocooning, boudoir feel this murano glass light gives this power pink bathroom ‌

Add artwork to the walls

It’s commonplace to adorn the walls of a living room or bedroom with art or prints but consider adding it into your bathroom design too. Not only is it an affordable way to transform a room, but it can add a point of interest to a space that is often quite clinical and clean feeling.

‌What better image will have you dreaming of five-star luxury than this – the iconic 1976 Slim Aaron’s print of one of the world’s most iconic coastal hotels, the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc in Antibes. We love it hung over a bath for a view to dream away your me-time with.

‌If illustration is more your thing, there are some fabulous options that don’t cost the earth. Hotel Magique’s sweet ‘Daydream’ image is filled with cool Santorini-esque blues and white; whilst Desenio’s simple coral print will add a pop of colour to a plain bathroom.

Style marble accessories

It goes without saying that marble adds an air of luxury to a bathroom space. If a full walk-in shower is out of budget, add some well chosen accessories instead – real or very good imitation. We love Lusso and Soho Home for the real deal but M&S and Zara Home have some great affordable options

Show off your luxury products (and hide the rest)

Whether you received some luxury bath and beauty products as a Christmas gift or you’ve treated yourself, one surefire way to make your bathroom look and smell like a top hotel is with the most indulgent products.

There are some brands whose packaging are just as good as the contents inside, from the OG Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir to Susanne Kaufmann’s beautiful herb-filled bath oil.

‌Aromatherapy Associates’ set of mini therapy oil lined up on the vanity will make your space feel like a top suite, whilst Kevin Murphy’s chic hair care range will bring a clean, cool aesthetic to your shower.‌

Add natural elements

Your bathroom may not have an outdoor shower and a vista over breathtaking views but you can still bring the natural elements inside with some well chosen botany. We love a faux olive tree for a statement look or a simple succulent nestled between your beauty products
