I’m A Fashion Editor & These Are The High Street Autumn Pieces I Have My Eye On

Summer ’25, you were great, but we’re ready to embrace autumn. The Handbook’s Contributing Fashion & Lifestyle Editor, Astrid Carter, walks you through the very best new-in collections from the high street. Whether you’re still loving the brown trend or are in the market for some season-appropriate workwear, scroll to shop the high street autumn pieces she rates, before they sell out.
If you’re looking for some new autumn pieces, the high street is the perfect place to start. In fact, it’s never been better.
For knits – the ultimate autumnal prerequisite – head to Cos for a dreamy, fuzzy cardigan. It’s giving major “papped Katie Holmes” vibes, especially when paired with the matching cami and some light-wash denim.
Top points go to Mango’s for a roomy, cool-girl fit, and plenty of pockets that mean you can forgo a bag if you wish.
When it comes to coats, where to begin? Just about every store has a brilliant one (or many) this season. Top points go to Mango’s oversized parka for its roomy, cool-girl fit and ample pockets, allowing you to forgo a bag if you wish.
I also have my eye on Zara’s fun faux fur cropped jacket. If you’re a fan of classic leopard print, this is an edgier take on a chic, snow leopard pattern. I’ll be wearing it with baggy jeans, slouchy boots, and plenty of black eyeliner.
I also have to mention River Island. While not my usual go-to, this season they have many good finds, from a pair of burgundy lace-up boots (very Chloé) to a beautiful, handmade scarf coat in the same hue that could easily pass for a designer piece.

The small back detail on Zara’s new-season blazer, gives it a look and feel far more luxe than its high street price tag.
Lean into AW25’s ’70s mood with floral prints in a nostalgic colour palette.
I’ll be wearing Zara’s cropped faux fur with baggy jeans and a smokey eye.
Brown is still a key color for AW25 in a variety of shades, from soft mink to rich butterscotch.
Add a layer of silky slip between a cosy knit and trailored trousers.
I love the grungy feel of this striped knit.

Topshop is making its triumphant return to the British high street, and these faux leather shorts feel very Topshop circa 2010.
