Bag Charms Were Everywhere At London Fashion Week

18th September 2024 | By Ashling McCloy

Once a school playground collectable, today a covetable, designer must-have: the bag charm is adorning the totes of all the most stylish. Are you ready to accessorise your bags with the coolest key rings, charms and chains? We are…

We knew this new obsession was set to explode the second we spotted bag charms at Copenhagen Fashion Week and sure enough, it has gone on to dominate in both New York and London in recent weeks. Yes, they featured heavily on the AW24 runways, specifically at the likes of Miu Miu and Coach, but was this a trend the style set would actually embrace? Apparently so. From hearts and cityscapes to teddy bears and cowboy boots, these playful adornments are everywhere – so much so, simple handbags now look naked without them.

Many of these appendages offer a practical element, like housing your AirPods or keeping your keys to hand. However, there’s no denying the opportunity to show off your fun side. Anya Hindmarch’s collection is literally taking this trend back to its roots with all your favourite school memories, from the Tipp-Ex charm to Stabilo Boss Coin Purse Charm. But her Love Hearts keyring, that’s going on my wishlist.

Burberry’s offerings are equally whimsical, with Thomas The Bear being the most popular. Coach’s New York-inspired bag charms have all but sold out. While Miu Miu, once again nailing another brilliant fashion movement, focuses more on the sleek. We’re talking leather tricks, micro bags and metal key chains.

There’s no question that you can find affordable versions in every high street store, not to mention souvenir shop, but perhaps you fancy a taste of designer? Perhaps your handbag is crying out for a glow up… a Miu Miu bag charm it is then.

Miu Miu is yet again at the fore of this latest trend.
