The New Season Jacket Everyone Is Rushing To Buy
With hints of grunge, boho and western, the suede jacket is staging a comeback. Thanks to Gucci, Miu Miu, hoards of influencers and, most recently, Cara Delevingne and Bella Hadid, this is definitely the jacket of the moment.
You know you’re onto a trend when it’s already begun to sell out. From its catwalk moments at Gucci, Ralph Lauren and Miu Miu to it casually sidling into all our Insta feeds, the suede jacket is a must for AW24. Plus, given Miu Miu’s, current success streak with trends – the label brought us ballet pumps, red tights, micro minis, pants over tights, boat shoes and now suede jackets – it is no surprise that this western-meets-boho piece is selling out. From the Miu Miu and Gucci-esque shirt fits to fringed and bomber styles, suede jackets are everywhere.
Given the resurgence, on a recent trip home I dug out an old fringed iteration from the ’90s. It looked as current as it did back in the day. So be sure to hunt out vintage options; check out charity stores or eBay for something original.
However, if you know you want new, designer picks are clearly limitless. Just don’t hang about as, despite the price tags, these luxe numbers are flying out. Free People is also guaranteed to deliver. While researching this piece, I was hard pressed not to splash the cash on the whole Yellowstone vibe. From the fringed suede jacket to the cowboy boots, I was just a bourbon away from buying up a ranch. Not exactly, but that’s where my head was.
Sézane also lured us in with its Will Jacket. Sadly sold out in camel, the khaki version is still truly covetable. Mango has a gorgeous studded style, while Cos has embraced a touch of that Miu Miu magic with an embellished number. There’s also plenty of faux suede available at the likes of Zara, New Look and ASOS. Oh and a beautiful vegan fringe jacket at Free People. I’m totally sold. The suede jacket is not just a trend; it’s a lifestyle. Now, found me a ranch.

Influencers across the globe are falling for the ‘Miu Miu Girl’ ethos, which feels inclusive and ageless, not to mention desirable.
