Our Fashion Team Reveal Their Fave AW24 Trends
As the temps drop and a new season begins, we ditch the summer blues in favour of all the gorgeous Autumn Winter fashion. Need help navigating the onslaught of stylish new attire? To guide you through this sartorial minefield, our editors share what Autumn/Winter 24 trends they’ll be embracing in the coming months.
September is like a new beginning; more fun than January, as the weather feels a tad less Baltic. It has a back-to-school feel, despite leaving those dingy classrooms behind many moons ago. In the fashion world, this month brings so much newness, not just with autumn-winter fashion but a sprinkling of things to come as we Fashion Editors shimmy from one fashion week to the next. We get a sneak peek into Spring/Summer 25, while wearing fresh new trends we’re loving. So, let the year commence.
Unsurprisingly, there are numerous trends and pieces we are coveting. So much so, it’s hard for the team to choose just one. I can’t get enough of burgundy-coloured knitwear, handbags, or anything dripping in this rich shade, to be honest. I can also bank on Natasha, our Digital Editor, adding The Row Margaux bag to her wishlist. But, under absolute pressure, here are our fashion team picks.
Ashling McCloy, Style & Interiors Editor: Leopard Print
I would argue that leopard print is more of a staple these days. It certainly dominates my wardrobe and has done so for many a year. The day it becomes defunct or uncool, I will be bereft. So, for this very reason, I can’t help but inwardly celebrate the moment even a hint of this print sashays down one of the designer catwalks.
Thankfully, it is very much one of the biggest trends for AW24. It is omnipresent. A key component to many collections; flowy and resplendent at Zimmerman, chic and mysterious at Dior, but, of course, edgy and bohemian at Isabel Marant. What is not to love? Plus, to further tempt you onto the wild side, every high street store from Mango to Mint Velvet has catered for this trend obsession. Oh, and those Ganni jeans, you know you want to…
Leopard print is more than a trend, its a must.
Natasha Harding, Digital Editor: Suede
This season is all about suede and I, for one, am a huge fan.
From boots and bags to jackets and everything in between, leather’s softer side is set to be everywhere this Autumn/Winter. You can either lean into the Western side with cowboy boots and fringed details. Or, if you’re feeling something more subtle, why not try a chocolate suede tote bag or a chestnut-toned belt? What I particularly love about this trend is that it never really goes ‘out of style’, which means that although suede usually commands a higher price point, these are the investment pieces you can keep in your wardrobe for years to come.
Astrid Carter, Fashion & Lifestyle Editor: Winter Boho
If there was one show that captivated me this season, it was Chloé. There’s a nod to the glory years of the brand (circa 2001 to 2006) when Phoebe Philo was at the helm, and current Creative Director Chemena Kamali has done a stunning job of bringing a fresh femininity to the signature look. Obviously, I would love to waft around in the entire collection à la Daisy Edgar-Jones, but the price points are pretty eye-watering. There are, however, plenty of pieces that echo the trend on the high street, from mille-feuille flounced dresses at H&M to cool studded accessories at Mango. The Chloé banana earrings are currently sitting quietly in my online basket – surely the statement earrings to end all statement earrings?
