While some may not make it to the beach this summer, we can certainly bring the beach vibes home with our favourite garden parasols. A world away from the grey mechanical structures that used to dominate patios, these colourful umbrellas are guaranteed to elevate your house party in the sun.

Our interest in interior design over recent years has taken on new levels. If social media is anything to go by, we are all in a perpetual state of renovating, redecorating and tablescaping. So it’s no surprise we’ve extended that creative flair to our outdoor spaces. It could be anything from a balcony to a backyard, but we’re now flamboyantly injecting them with those holiday feels. And what could be more vacay-inspired than a beach parasol swaying over your al fresco dining? Nothing, except perhaps for a cold Piná Colada. We’ll take both.

Thankfully, numerous niche labels are jumping on the trend for luxe outdoor furniture. For instance, when Business & Pleasure Co. came on the scene back in 2016, it was the beginning of a beautiful thing. The vintage-loving, fun-seeking brand transformed our outside spaces into pure Cali-style glamour with ’50s-inspired brollies, coolbags and deck chairs. Their retro shades with tassel trims have been sell-out successes. Similarly, if you love all this nostalgia, Danish homeware label HKLiving, has introduced parasols in a tribute to the flower power period of the ‘70s. Watch Daisy Jones & The Six, and you’ll be all over that bohemian transformation.

Business & Pleasure Co., THE MARKET UMBRELLA, £499

Business & Pleasure Co. is the renowned lifestyle brand that transformed our outdoor living into one of Cali-inspired glamour. The brand has successfully captured the nostalgia and social decadence reminiscent of a Slim Aarons photograph. Picture ’50s summer style fused with ’70s hues in sleek modern finishes.

Make sure you also check out UK-based Boho Parasol Hut for its seriously chic, not to mention sustainable creations. While on the high street, Graham & Green is inviting Indian summers and Moroccan nights into our garden with its hand-painted garden parasols. And if all this lovely temptation hasn’t got you rethinking how you bbq, picnic or party at home… Well, you’re stronger than us.
