Remember a couple of years ago when it seemed like every single A-lister went and got a bob? Well, now there’s a new cut du jour amongst stylish celebrities, and it’s the bob’s younger sister. Enter: the bixie. Scroll down to find out what the ‘bixie’ actually is, which stars are sporting it, and how to recreate the look yourself.

What is the bixie cut?

As you might’ve already guessed, this is the hybrid name for the short hairstyle that sits somewhere between the bob and the pixie cut. Perhaps one reason it’s become so popular is that it is surprisingly versatile. The bixie can be curled into a Betty Boop-esque type ‘do, slicked down to create a more edgy finish, or roughed up to create a lived-in, shaggy finish.

Spotted on literally every single stylish celebrity, including Zendaya, Gracie Abrams, Jessie Buckley, Kristen Stewart, Halle Berry, Jourdan Dunn, Robin Wright, Emma Stone, Iris Law – the list really is that long – it’s safe to say that this is ‘the’ style of summer 2026.

With such an extensive list of celebrity fans, it’s safe safe to say that this is ‘the’ style of summer 2026.

How to get the look

Keen to try the look? Celebrity hairstylist & Bellissima ambassador, Alicia Dobson (@hairtohelp) shares her step-by-step guide:

Step 1. Begin with damp hair as your base. Either towel-dry freshly washed hair or lightly mist it with a spray bottle.

Step 2. Now it’s time to add and create volume at the roots. Use your fingers to lift sections around the crown. Then blow-dry your hair using a dryer – make sure to direct the airflow away from your scalp. The main aim here is to create some movement while keeping the style polished and smooth. For the curly girls, if you have a bixie curly haircut, use a diffuser to enhance your natural curl pattern. This will add volume while also bringing definition and life back into your curls.

Step 3. Here you can get a little creative. Use your fingers to separate pieces of hair around your face and crown. Some bixie cuts have a longer fringe that can be styled forward or swept to the side.

Step 4. Now it’s time to add texture. You’ll need a little amount of texturising wax or paste and rub it between your fingertips. Pinch and define individual layers to create that lived-in, effortless bixie look.

Step 5. Finish off with a light setting spray to help keep your style in place all day long.
