Is Tatcha’s Viral Dewy Skin Cream Actually Worth £69?
No matter how minimal or complex your skincare routine is, chances are, you’ve got a moisturiser. Some are lightweight, tailored for oily skin that’s prone to breakouts, whereas others are rich and creamy, perfect for those who verge more on the dry side. Tatcha’s The Dewy Skin Cream is one moisturiser that seems to have fans across the board – but at £69, is it worth it?
Why it’s so loved
It’s one thing for me to say, “this product is super popular”, but another to put it into numbers. According to Tactha, one of these tubs sells every minute. Plus, it’s got a 4.8-star rating among more than 7,200 reviewers.
So what’s going on under the lid? A lot of hydration, basically. The product claims to immediately boost moisturisation by 225% (a big call) thanks to it’s plumping and antioxidant-packed formulation. As for the colour, the light lilac hue is attributed to the Japanese purple rice.
The cream also contains squalane, hylauronic acid, red algae and Hadasei-3 (Tatcha’s proprietary complex with amino acids and AHAs like lactic acid), which creates a moisture powerhouse ingredients list.
I’ve never paid over £50 for a moisturiser before, so I’m very keen to see how this fares compared to my more affordable go-tos.

How it applies
I love that this product comes with its very own resuable mini gold spoon, which forms part of the iconic lid, to apply the cream. Rather than being super lightweight or ultra creamy, this dewy cream strikes the ideal middle ground – it’s deeply hydrating, without feeling heavy or leaving a slippery residue behind. It’s lovely to apply, smooth and feels beautiful on your skin – I can see why people like it.
I was also impressed with how quickly it absorbed, meaning that, like my other favourite moisturisers, I could keep on with my routine without much waiting around. It layers really nicely under my SPF50 sunscreen – a test not all super hydrating moisturisers pass – with zero pilling.

The results
After cleansing my face, I normally don’t have very long until my skin starts to feel dry and tight. I took a quick snap below (left) to show how the skin looks without anything on my skin – dry and a bit dull. On the right, beneath my makeup, The Dewy Skin Cream really helps give my skin a soft glow – a dewiness, if you will. In the warmer months, I might choose to go in with a finishing powder around my T-zone to finish off the look, but I actually quite like the fresh finish as it is.

My verdict
Can I, in good conscience, say that I’d spend just under £70 on a moisturiser? No, I can’t. I’m saving for my wedding so all unnecessary luxuries have been put on hold for the foreseeable future. I can, however, say that I understand why people are prepared to pay for The Dewy Skin Cream. It’s hydrating, smooth and feels beautiful on the skin – it’s an indulgent addition to the skincare routine. Plus, finding a moisturiser that works for your skin isn’t easy, and if you find one you love – and can afford to purchase – then go for it.
