The Trend We Spotted Everywhere At Copenhagen Fashion Week
As Copenhagen Fashion Week SS27 drew to a close this weekend, there was a clear new colour trend dominating our favourite street stylers – and, if we’re honest, it feels like a bit of a curveball. Move over, butter yellow and cherry red: turquoise blue is about to be everywhere, and it’s going to make you feel like a noughties popstar.
Copenhagen Fashion Week is always the most fun when it comes to street style. The rules are: there are no rules, and the show’s attendees are always seen in a festival of playful colour and clashing prints. SS27 was no exception. Whilst we saw lots of lace pieces, colour blocking, Bermuda shorts (everywhere!), and unlikely micro-trends like footless socks (we’re not sure), there was one standout shade that kept cropping up: turquoise.
Now, it’s not the chicest of colours. Joyful? Yes. Fun? Absolutely. Conjures up images of noughties popstars or late ‘90s stretchy lycra going-out tops? 100%. It’s not one for the wallflowers, but we kind of love it in a fun Zara Larsen-coded way.
So, who was wearing it? Lisbon influencer Rita Montezuma gave the colour a tomboy twist by wearing it via a baggy, skater-style long-sleeve tee with Bermuda shorts – very cool as we head into late summer, and an understated way to embrace colour.
Or, for just a pop of colour, the likes of @marie.helenedbs used accessories to dip into the trend – as seen in her statement turquoise Parfois glasses. Meanwhile, @oliviatps opted for a flash of a paisley print turquoise headscarf. It should veer into cheesy noughties music video, but actually looked really cool paired with an all-grey and black look.
