Looking to celebrate the life and work of poet Robert Burns? While we can’t quite promise the Scottish Highlands, restaurants across the city have pulled out all of the stops on the food and entertainment front for Burns Night [25th January] in London. 

From live bagpipe performances to obligatory haggis, neeps and tatties, here’s where to celebrate Burns Night in London.

Hawksmoor Spitalfields

Hawksmoor’s Burns Night party includes flowing cocktails and drams, Scottish beer with complimentary macaroni pies from Auld Hag, and a live DJ. Plus, you can enjoy two special Aberfeldy 12-Year-Old cocktails, including the New Loch Sour and the Tunnock’s Old Fashioned, at all Hawksmoor UK restaurants for two weeks surrounding Burns Night.

Great Central Pub, The Landmark London

Experience a taste of Scotland in the heart of London with a celebratory à la carte Burns Night menu at Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher. Located within The Landmark London, tuck into a menu of traditional Scottish fare with starters such as gin and juniper cured Scottish salmon fillet or beetroot, fennel and rye crisp, mains of traditional Haggis, neeps and tatties with a rich whisky sauce with an indulgent Cranachan cheesecake for dessert.

The Connaught Grill

The Connaught Grill is hosting a Burns Night whisky supper in collaboration with Aberfeldy Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which includes a welcome cocktail and a multi-course menu with wine pairings. There’ll also be poetry readings by Aberfeldy’s global ambassador and a final comparative whisky tasting with petit fours in the Coburg Bar. The Burns Night special menu will also be available from 21st to 26th January, with the whisky supper taking place on the 25th.

The Ox, Clapham

Putting neeps, haggis and tatties centre stage, The Ox is putting on its kilt with a special Burns Night menu featuring highland venison haunch steak, with haggis, neeps and tatties croquettes and bone marrow mash; and a chicken balmoral pie, with a single malt sauce purée. Kick-off celebrations with a Scotch Toddy and finish with a wild berry cranachan accompanied by deep-fried Mars bar petit fours.

The Stafford

Head to The Game Bird at The Stafford on the 25th of January for a Burns Night-inspired experience. Indulge in a thoughtfully crafted three-course menu (including Balvenie cured salmon parfait and traditional haggis), accompanied by a selection of expertly paired whiskies to celebrate Scotland’s literary icon, Robert Burns.

RAILS Restaurant

Enjoy a memorable Burns Night at RAILS Restaurant with a special set menu. Begin with the limited-edition ‘Ae Fond Kiss’ cocktail, blending Scottish whisky with passionfruit and chilli before the starter of hearty Cullen Skink soup, followed by

The Little Door

Book yourself a meal at The Little Orange Door in Clapham, and The Little Blue Door in Fulham where for a special Burns Night Supper Club. Expect bagpipes and plenty of haggis, while you tuck into a three-course supper full of heart Scottish classics. Think tartan everywhere, the sound of bagpipes and some readings of Robert Burns’ poetry.

Home House

Luxury private members’ club Home House hosts an extraordinary Burns Night Supper in the stunning surroundings of the club’s restaurant,
overlooking Portman Square. Look forward to a traditional Burns Night celebration with a four-course meal, the ceremonial ‘addressing of the haggis’ and Home House’s very own Burns Night piper. The menu offers a modern twist on traditional Burns Supper specialities, including Cullen skink (smoked haddock soup), haggis, neeps and tatties, and delicious Cranachan cheesecake for dessert.

Celebrated Scottish chef Tomás Gormley will be cooking at Carousel for a full week, culminating in a Burns Night dinner on the 25th of January. The menu will showcase contemporary Scottish dishes from Gormley’s first solo restaurant Cardinal, an intimate, fine dining restaurant in Edinburgh, with highlights such as venison, fermented blueberries, celeriac, lovage and cranachan granita.

Nessa 

Nessa will serve a special Haggis brioche – a play on the restaurant’s signature black pudding brioche created by Executive Chef Tom Cenci – on Saturday 25th January to celebrate Burns Night. Served with brown butter noisette alongside neeps and tatties and gravy, the dish is best enjoyed with a glass of Scotch single malt whisky from Nessa’s bar.

Ham Yard

Celebrate the spirit of the Highlands with a special Burns Night dinner at Ham Yard, honouring the legendary Scottish poet Robert Burns. The evening kicks off with canapés and a bespoke The Macallan cocktail, setting the stage for a five-course feast showcasing traditional Scottish flavours, accompanied by a selection of expertly paired whiskies. This year’s menu features Loch Fyne smoked salmon, Haggis, neeps and tatties, leading up to the main course of venison wellington. Dessert includes a pear and almond tart and a cheese course featuring Strathdon Blue from Tain.

Is there anywhere more traditional in London for Burns Night than the Ceilidh Club? Head down this Saturday, 25th January and kick back for an evening of dining, drinking and dancing. 

The historic poet will be brought to life throughout the evening. Expect to uncover giant dance floors, brilliant music and tasty Scottish fare. There’s no dress code but if you do fancy donning your finest Highland getup, you’re more than welcome.
