Everything We Know About Dua Lipa’s New Documentary, Camden

Camden has long since been the breeding ground for some of the world’s most prolific musicians and performers, with legends like Amy Winehouse and Coldplay finding their footing in the bars and clubs of NW1. And now, Dua Lipa is putting the spotlight on Camden’s rich musical history in a documentary.
The world-renowned singer has announced the release of a new docu-series, Camden, for which she is donning an executive producer’s hat for the very first time. Featuring stalwarts of the global music industry, the documentary looks like a must-watch for anyone interested in London’s history of producing musical icons.
What do we know about Camden?
The four part docu-series tells “the untold stories of today’s most iconic acts and how they were shaped by this corner of London.” The trailer features Dua Lipa rifling through records at a store in Camden talking about how there’s not a record store in the area that doesn’t have an Amy Winehouse album. In a little nod to her own latest album Radical Optimism, Lipa calls Camden “this place of radical acceptance,” as she gazes out of a car window and affectionally calls it home.
The documentary features interviews with some of the world’s most legendary musicians including Chris Martin, Noel Gallagher, Pete Doherty and Nile Rodgers. “It all happened in Camden,” says Martin, who once lived on Camden Road. In fact, the first Coldplay rehearsal took place here. In the trailer Martin talks about the night the band was first called Coldplay, saying, “The headlining band took the drum kit away and so we all played the stage as the base drum.”

Taking to Instagram, Lipa announced, “Camden will always have a special place in my heart and I’m humbled to share that with some of my absolute musical heroes.”
One of those effortlessly cool parts of London that’s frequented by tourists, teenagers, punk rockers and foodies alike, Camden is home to iconic venues like Roundhouse, Electric Ballroom and KOKO that have hosted legendary musical acts. With its bronze statue of the powerhouse British icon Amy Winehouse at Stables Market, Camden is known for being the home and soul of the UK’s music scene, and the documentary aims to shine a light on just that.
When will it be released?
Camden is coming to your screen very soon so you won’t have long to wait. Streaming on Disney+ and Hulu in the UK, the series will be available to watch from 29th May.
