All We Know About And Just Like That Season 3

Big news for Sex and the City fans: Season 3 of And Just Like That… is at last on its way, having been confirmed by HBO to be arriving soon, and filming getting underway.

AJLT was announced to have been renewed for a third season just before season 2’s finale, but we’re only now getting our first bits of info of what’s in store for Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and co. Here’s everything we know so far:

Where did Season 2 leave us?

By the end of AJLT’s second season, Carrie had decided to sell her Manhattan apartment and was set to embrace the next chapter in her life with Aidan Shaw (John Corbett), who first appeared way back in Sex and the City’s third season. After the ups and downs of their relationship, they finally get back together and seemed to be heading towards staying together permanently, but the episode ended with Aidan explaining that he wanted some time away to be with his teenage sons and wait until they moved out of their teens to reunite with Carrie. Miranda and Che meanwhile seem to move past their relationship troubles from earlier in the season, with Miranda also burying the hatchet with her ex-husband Steve. Charlotte pursued balancing her family life with a return to her career, and keeping things smooth with her husband Harry (Evan Handler).

What do we know about Season 3?

‌There’s not a huge amount we know about specific plot details for this season, though there have been a few cryptic hints as production gets up and running. First off, there’ll be some cast changes- Che won’t be returning for this new season, with Ramirez exiting the series. Dr Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman) will also not be back for Season 3, so there’s definitely going to be a casting shakeup. Comedian Rosie O’Donnell is the biggest name who’s joining the series for this next outing, playing someone called Mary, though we don’t know anything else about her.

‌Meanwhile, Jessica-Parker has said that she’s looking forward to Season 3 and where it goes with the characters, saying it has a “soufflé quality”, and elaborating that it’s “lovely… [with] layers and complexities and complications as there always are] she also hinted that Aidan will play a part in her life in the future, from on-set photos, it appears that’ll be sooner rather than later.

Will Samantha return?

‌One of the big reasons Season 2 received buzz was the pre-announced return of Samantha (Kim Cattrall), who appeared in a short cameo during the finale, by phone in the back of a car. It looks unlikely she’ll be back for more, and isn’t part of the announced cast, but who knows what the future holds.
