Cape Of Senses: A Review of Lake Garda’s Most Luxurious Retreat

There are the annual ski holidays and summer holidays, but if you’re in need of a last-minute relaxing weekend away, we’ve found just the spot. Located within the enchanting landscapes of Lake Garda, Italy, Cape of Senses is where luxury meets tranquillity.
Awarded with a MICHELIN Key, Cape of Senses is recognised as one of the most outstanding hotels in the world, acknowledged for its architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service and overall personality and character. By day, enjoy a hike with breathtaking views of the lake, spa treatment, or simply get tucked into a book by the infinity pool. By night, dine at their in-house restaurant with a much-deserved glass of wine or signature cocktail. We had the privilege of staying at this adults-only hideaway and here’s our experience…
What sets it apart

Designed by ArchDemetz, the architecture is a seamless blend of contemporary and classic Italian charm, thoughtfully placed to enhance your connection with nature. The heated indoor-outdoor infinity pool offers the best of both worlds and is undoubtedly a highlight to any stay, surrounded by olive trees and unbeatable lake views. For the foodies among us their in-house restaurant Al Tramonto is a must, making Cape of Senses a go-to spot for an experience that is as rejuvenating as it is indulgent.

The rooms
Upon arrival, we were greeted with delicate petit fours and homemade lemonade in our room, which was very welcome after a morning of travel. The interiors of soothing colours and textures made unwinding easy, not to mention the floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the outside in. Each room feels like a personal sanctuary and the hotel’s design ensures all rooms face the lake (no bad rooms here) – and as comfortable as the beds were, waking up to the breathtaking views will guarantee to get you up and out.

Dining
Dining at Cape of Senses is an experience in its own right. This retreat is perfect for those looking to be active during the day and indulgent at night. The restaurant offers seasonal, locally inspired dishes that are as delicious as they are beautiful.
With executive Chef Francesco Pavan at the helm, whether you indulge in a leisurely breakfast on the terrace or a candlelit dinner in Restaurant Al Tramonto, the culinary journey at Cape of Senses is a true highlight. Personal favourites included the Tuna Tagliolini and Venison Ravioli.

Things to do

Equipped with not one, but two saunas, a steam room and several treatment rooms, the spa at Cape of Senses is guaranteed to help you unwind from the everyday hustle and bustle – a haven of holistic wellness, you could say.
With treatments ranging from deep tissue massages to bespoke wellness programs, you’re in the good hands of their skilled therapists, who understand the art of relaxation and restoration. Don’t forget to take advantage of the daily well-being sessions offering yoga and Pilates to breathwork and sauna sound baths.
As tempting as it was to remain poolside for the duration of our trip, we liked to earn our dinner. So, for those looking for a little more adventure, we’d suggest spending the morning hiking around the local hillside and trust us, the views are well worth it. We also took advantage of the red electric Vespas that are available to hire and allowed us to explore the local area in style. The hotel also offers Fiat 500s and eBikes, ensuring there is ample opportunity to explore the wonders of Lake Garda.
The verdict
Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, this retreat on Lake Garda’s hillside offers something for everyone. At approximately £400 – £450 per night, the hotel is positioned as a more indulgent stay, but for a special occasion, birthday or anniversary, it’s definitely worth every penny and will leave you feeling rejuvenated. Finally, we couldn’t help but mention the team behind Cape of Senses. Their warmth, hospitality and attention to detail made everything so easy, going above and beyond to make it a truly memorable stay.
It’s definitely worth every penny and will leave you feeling rejuvenated.
