It’s been a few years since the first season of Feud, an anthology series that focuses, as you might guess, on famous feuds. After telling the story of the rivalry between Joan Crawford and Bette Davies in 2017, Feud is finally back with a new season centred on famed novelist Truman Capote. Along with shows like True Detective, Griselda and Master of the Air, Capote vs. The Swans is one of our most anticipated shows of the year.

What is Capote vs. The Swans about?

This season of Feud adapts the bestselling book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era, which looks at how the real-life Capote wrecked his friendships with several high society socialites in New York City. Capote has been portrayed several times on screens, notably an Oscar-winning turn from Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and an also highly acclaimed performance by Toby Jones , and now it’s White Lotus and The Night Manager star Tom Hollander ’s turn.

The idiosyncratic Capote decides to write a new novel, Answered Prayers, that is immediately picked up on as a thinly veiled version of the various NYC socialites he knows well. Unsurprisingly, they’re not best pleased with Truman’s lack of discretion and decide that they’re going to get revenge by running his life.

Who stars?

Tom Hollander might be playing the titular Capote, but the “swans” he’s feuding with are our central focus: Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks star Naomi Watts leads our cast of socialites as Babe Paley, who was dubbed “The Queen of New York” and was an editor for Vogue. It’s no surprise then that Capote became so close to her, nor that they had such a bad falling out after the publishing of previews of Answered Prayers in Esquire magazine.

Diane Lane (Unfaithful) plays Slim Keith, Chloë Sevigny (Zodiac) plays C.Z. Guest, Calista Flockhart (Supergirl) plays Lee Radziwill and Demi Moore (Brave New World) stars as Ann Woodward. A few other notable names include Joe Mantello (American Horror Story: NYC), Molly Ringwald (Dahmer- Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story) and Russell Tovey (Years and Years).

When does it release, and is there a trailer?

Capote Vs. The Swans makes its debut in the US on 31st January, but a UK release date is currently up in the air. However, we know it’ll be available on Disney+ in the UK, so make sure to put it on your watchlist. You can watch the series’ official trailer, which shows off all the fashion, drama and all the high society gossiping you’d expect.
