The Handbook

Just because we’re stuck inside right now doesn’t mean we have to forego the simple pleasures in life that make it so sweet, and this includes delighting in quintessentially British treat: afternoon tea. You can now get your afternoon tea fix thanks to these seven restaurants, cafés and shops bringing their savoury delights and sweet treats to your door.

From The Dorchester’s five star service to Cutter & Squidge’s mini dream cakes, all that’s left to do is pop the kettle on, get the clotted cream at the ready and dig into these seven afternoon tea deliveries.

The Dorchester

Afternoon tea has been taken to new heights as The Dorchester brings their luxury service to your humble home.

Following the success of The Dorchester’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show inspired afternoon tea that ran last week, the renowned hotel will be bringing their silver service to the homes of Londoners throughout the summer. Packed in your very own wicker hamper, you can expect a traditional spread of afternoon treats from finger-sized sandwiches to moreish scones.

The afternoon tea offering is part of The Dorchester’s at Home series which launches 1st June and will see Londoners delighting in The Dorchester’s famed five star service from the comfort of their homes while restaurants across the city currently remain closed.

Launching 1st June. Pre-orders from Friday 29th May

Brigit’s Bakery

Lockdown just got a whole lot better thanks to Brigit’s Bakery and their quirky afternoon tea delivery.

Brigit’s Bakery, the bakery behind the red double-decker bus that whizzes you and your afternoon tea around London’s landmarks, have starting bringing their afternoon tea selection to fellow Londoners homes, arming them with homemade scones, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches and an assortment of tarts, cakes and fruity bakes. The selection is just perfect for a weekend treat or lockdown celebration.

Cutter & Squidge

For those who like skipping the savoury part for the full on sweet section, you’re going to love Cutter & Squidge’s selection of afternoon tea offerings.

The afternoon tea bundle will see you tucking into scones towered with clotted cream and jam, rich chocolate brownies and mini dream cake slices. The best part? They deliver nationwide so if you’re not currently residing in your London apartment right now but still want the joy of moreish afternoon tea, you’re in luck.

All that’s left to do is warm up your scones, brew your tea of choice and dig into the sweet treats.

Dominique Ansel

We can always count on Dominique Ansel to come through with the sweet and savoury treats. If you’re lucky enough to live close by, you’ll be able to enjoy the tempting afternoon tea options on offer. They’ve even got a few recommendations on the site too. Switch up your afternoon tea routine with their avocado toast or ‘perfect little egg sandwich’, and don’t forget to indulge in their sweet specialities too. After all a Cronut is always a good idea.

Fortnum & Mason

There’s perhaps nothing more quintessentially British than an afternoon strolling around Fortnum & Mason and delighting in their superb afternoon tea. While we can’t do the latter right now, we can treat ourselves to one of their tea time hampers. For the ultimate afternoon tea feast, opt for the Fortnum’s afternoon tea hamper. From strawberry preserves to traditional shortbread rounds, orange, earl grey and cardamom loaf cake to delicately decorate tea cups and saucers, it’s brimming with everything you need for a special celebratory afternoon.

John Lewis & Partners

Pretty in pink…

We’re loving John Lewis’s elegant afternoon tea hamper set that’s bursting with all of the afternoon tea essentials and more. You’ll be munching your way through Percy’s Bakery delightful cream sweet raspberry and white chocolate, chocolate cakes, Bristows of Devond prosecco flavour bonbons, and sipping the summer away with Zonin Rosato Vino Spumante brut.
