The Cutout Trend Is Back For 2023. Here’s How To Wear it…

Cut-out fashion has dominated the last few summers, but this year the look is chicer than ever. From exposed sides to key-hole details, we’re ready to embrace this skin-baring style with unparalleled elegance.
From the catwalks to the high street, ‘negative space’ designs are leading the way in new season fashion. Tom Ford owned the look with his very LA-glam collection featuring barely-there dresses, sequins and flamboyant Western vibes. In the extreme, Ulla Johnson featured more bohemian influences including a striped blanket dress with side cutouts which was hand-loomed in Guatemala.

In most cases, it was all about oblique cutouts, that side area of the body revealing only a hint of tummy. Perhaps more suggestive than sexy, we’re loving the bold creations from Farm Rio and Sea. However, on a slightly more budget-friendly note, H&M currently have the prettiest of floral dresses with puffed sleeves and subtle cut-out details. We are so ready for that summer wardrobe update.
For those not looking for dresses, the trend also extends to tops, blazers and jumpsuits. We’re 100% coveting the ASTR The Label Juno cutout peplum top at Anthropologie which would work with jeans and ballet flats – see, this look doesn’t always have to be uber luxe, it can be pared-back and relaxed. Equally, the Mango jumpsuit couldn’t be more sleek and understated.
There’s no question that this look is here to stay, so we’ve picked out our favourites. From Reformation to Pucci, we’re sure you’ll find the summer number just for you…
