The Interiors Insider With Annie Harrison, Founder of Fare Inc. Interiors

Ever wondered where the world’s most acclaimed interior designers find their secret sources? Welcome to The Handbook’s new series, The Interiors Insider. We’re opening up their exclusive little black books, sitting down with the globe’s best interior designers, design experts, and tastemakers to uncover their absolute number one recommendations. From hidden gems for lighting and one-of-a-kind fabrics, to the ultimate destinations for sofas, and even who does children’s bedrooms so well. Think of it as your golden ticket to some of the best interior retailers, bespoke names, and ones to know. For the first in the series, we kick things off with Annie Harrison, Founder of London-based interior design studio, Fare Inc.
We’re the kind of people who snap a restaurant’s interior before even thinking about the food. When a restaurant, bar, or hotel truly nails its design, especially when paired with incredible food or impeccable service, it transcends into something truly magical.
One person consistently responsible for creating that very magic is Annie Harrison. Just over five years ago, she founded her interior design studio, Fare Inc., and her portfolio now boasts high-end hotels, Michelin Guide restaurants, boutique cinemas, vibrant Soho drinking dens, and stunning London homes.
Just take a peek at her portfolio and you’ll see the sorcery she creates with deep textures, beautiful lighting, tactile fabrics and a talent that brings softness and soul to urban areas. With some of our most bookmarked bars and restaurants for great interiors, such as hip wine bar Neighbourhood, Notting Hill favourite Akub and Soho Sri Lankan Kolamba, there was no doubt she would be the perfect candidate for our inaugural Interiors Top 10…

1. My standout interiors brand for 2025…
Has to be The Oblist. They have a thoughtfully curated selection of vintage and new designs from smaller designers and makers, with a great price range to suit all budgets.
They have a conscious approach to sustainability and consumption in the interiors community, so most pieces that aren’t vintage are made to order, which I really admire.
2. If there were one brand I’d happily buy for the rest of my life…
It would be Pinch. I adore the cohesive collection that pairs so beautifully together, whether it’s lighting, sofas, beds or timber storage and seating.
3. For great lighting, head to…
Pinch, again. One of our current projects has its pieces in almost every room. Paolo Moschino and Ochre are also great for higher-end table lamps and pendants, respectively. Pooky and Etsy are great sources for more cost-effective, small pieces.

4. For great sofas and seating…
I always recommend clients go to Andrew Martin and Sofa.com if they are looking for off-the-shelf styles. They can also customise them with your own fabric, so there’s still a sense of it feeling like it’s unique for your space. The Expert has great pieces designed by interior designers, so they are well-considered and comfortable.
5. For beautiful wallpaper…
It has to be Glamora and Coordonné for mural scenes, and Carly Khun for fun, illustrative designs.
6. When I’m looking for pre-loved or antiques…
I go to Sunbury Antiques Market – it’s a local favourite. I also love 1stDibs for global finds. Some great smaller sellers are Oculus, Maud Vaughan, The Diarist, and Monument London.

I always recommend customising a sofa with your own fabric, so it feels unique for your space.

7. Beautiful fabrics and soft furnishings…
Can be found at Schumacher, Yarn Collective, and Mark Alexander are where we’ve found most of our favourites, as they have collections in more pared-back, earthy hues and lovely textures. I also love Lana Daya for cushions and throws as well as their fabrics, which are all ethically made.
8. My top picks for incredible home accessories are…
LES collection, The Oblist and Atelier 278
9. For pieces with sustainability in mind…
I always recommend The Oblist and The Future Kept for home furnishings, Konk for beautiful timber furniture, and Lana Daya for fabrics and soft furnishings.
10. My advice for kitchens…
Is to go bespoke. Ensuring the kitchen has our client’s exact needs in mind, we focus on specialist metal finishes that are hard to find from high street showrooms. It always pays to go bold with your kitchen design, as it’s where so many memories are made in a home.

11. For affordable pieces on the high street…
You can’t beat Arket, The White Company and Zara Home.
12. For one-of-a-kind, beautiful furniture….
I love Cox London, who do stunning, textured, nature-inspired pieces. They are unmatched.
13. If clients are after something bespoke…
I love to source from Atelier 278. They create beautiful custom stone furniture, and each piece is crafted from a different marble or travertine slab, so they become a one-of-a-kind heirloom in the space.

14. For children’s bedrooms and nurseries…
Camomile London is a lovely local brand created by a mother-daughter duo. I also love Ferm Living and Smallable.
15. I’ve recently found interior inspiration at…
The newly opened One Club Row in Shoreditch has a very considered, but pared-back Parisian feel to it, with wonderful bright art that is very inspiring for a home. Elsewhere, bedrooms at The NoMad hotel have a very artsy, lived-in feel, which feels very achievable to recreate.
