The Gingham Fashion Trend Is Back For Summer
If you’re planning your holiday wardrobe, then be sure to add some gingham clothing into the mix. Not only is this cute check utterly timeless, it also happens to be a current fave with both A-listers and influencers. Gingham fashion isn’t new, we’re not debating that, but it’s pretty hot right now. As the temps slowly begin to rise and our favourite influencers take to their hols, the simple check pattern is beginning to dominate our feeds. Think of it as the polka dot print’s chic sister. To be fair, both prints were neck and neck in the style stakes, until Sarah Jessica Parker appeared on the set of And Just Like That wearing an oversized gingham hat. Designed by Maryam Keyhani, the ‘Cloud Hat’ was so huge it got us talking… and shopping for gingham.
Naturally gingham was spotted on the runways, specifically at Anna Sui, Baum und Pferdgarten, MSGM and Cecilie Bahnsen. So the buzz has been slowly growing and hitting our favourite boutiques and high street stores. Reformation has a plethora of gingham to cover every situation, from pyjama style pants to beachy co-ords, while Zara is a must for your vacation sun dress.
There are plenty of feminine takes on the trend; opt for puffed sleeves at Ganni or shirred and gathered dresses at Boden and Dôen. I’m obsessing over the more punchy bandeau cuts from the likes of Bernadette and Anthropologie, not to mention the backless jumpsuit from Aligne – the ultimate summer look: relaxed, cool and effortlessly chic.
