Interior Chinatown Is An Action Packed Must Watch

The action-packed new series follows a background character in a police procedural drama, who begins to discover the realities and truth behind the strange world that he lives in. Based on the novel of the same name, it stars Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley), Chloe Bennet (Agents of SHIELD) and Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show) Here’s all to know:
What is Interior Chinatown about?
Hulu’s new series follows the story of the 2020 book by Charles Yu, which is set in the world of a fictional TV police procedural drama called Black and White. This fiction within fiction, if you will, features the kinds of generic characters and locations you’d expect to find in a bog standard cop show: detectives, criminals, and those in between. Our central character, Willis Wu (Yang), is himself a backdrop waiter, with little to do and finding his mundane life frustrating. His dream is to be something much more, like a “kung fu guy” in the procedural, like his brother (Chris Pang), who hasn’t been seen in years. The repetitiveness of his life however is broken when he witnesses a crime, and he has no idea how things will change.
He wasn’t meant to witness this incident of course, but he nevertheless proceeds to investigate the crime himself, intrigued. Working alongside him at Golden Palace Restaurant is his best friend and co-worker Fatty Choi (Chieng), who assists him in his new-found case, and he also meets Lana Lee, a detective played by Chloe Bennet. He begins to find an underground criminal world in Chinatown that he didn’t know about, as well as long-buried family secrets- likely connected in part to his lost brother. Now that Willis himself is in the spotlight, is it all he expected it to be? And is he entirely safe from danger- considering he could end up like other victims in the procedural?

Also starring in the series is Diana Lin (The Farewell) and Tzi Ma (Mulan) as Willis’ parents, alongside Lisa Gilroy (Glamorous), Archie Kao (CSI), Lauren Tom (Rick and Morty) and Michael Harney (For All Mankind).
