This weekend is looking chockablock, as one and all try to squidge in as much as possible before summer, and its unbearable rain showers, runs away from us! So, grab a cocktail at Kimpton Fitzroy, shake ya tail feather at Sink The Pink’s street party and distract the kids from their sugar high with a sighting of Peter Rabbit. August, you’re fabulous!
We’re starting off proceedings with one of London’s best. XU Teahouse & Restaurant has launched the most epic brunch experience, that’ll knock any mimosa laden, avocado on toast eating extravaganza straight out of the park!
Picture this; free-flowing Perrier-Jouët Champagne… ah, now we’ve definitely got your attention. Yes, free flowing Perrier-Jouët Champagne will be the whistle whetter to your five-course meal from the incredible Mister XU Menu, made up of some of the best, most flavoursome Chinese and Taiwanese cuisines London has to offer. The brunch boasts bountiful flavours found in dish highlights of cuttlefish toast with whipped cod, aged middle white pork Xian Bing dumplings, and their signature Shou Pa chicken, described by The Times’ Marina O’Loughlin as “one of my favourite chicken dishes anywhere, ever.”
XU Teahouse & Restaurant oozes luxury and whirlwinds visitors to the glam dining rooms of 1930’s Taipei. With this in mind, there really isn’t a better place to sip on the delicate flavours and crisp nature of the star of the show, Perrier-Jouët Champers. Or, indulge in a tea, from sparkling Hong Yu No. 18, sour plum, or a Gaiwan of 10 year oolong, before journeying on to Covent Garden’s bustling theatre scene.
We’re definitely saying hurrah for the weekend as we soak up the last of the summer days at Fitz’s In Bloom, a one-off outdoor summer pop-up in partnership with Select Apertivo. The decadent cocktail bar, Fitz’s, at the Kimpton Fitzroy London, will be bringing the cocktail bar al fresco to a specially designed, veranda-style space set against the backdrop of Russell Square, plus you’ll be able to enjoy a series of live music and bar snacks too. An exclusive menu of spritzes has been specially made, many of which are low ABV or alcohol free.

We’ve found a festival that we’ll never dessert and, more importantly, we need to tell you all about it. The London Dessert Festival’s got a pretty sweet line-up compared to, say, Glasto, one that swaps Mariah for macarons and Skepta with S’mores and well, it sounds all kinds of delicious. That’s right, if you’re a fan of all things sugar, you must be aware of the very first London Dessert Festival, which arrives this weekend and promises immersion, treats and Instagrammable everything.
As well as feasting on sweet stuff, you’ll learn about London’s dessert scene too, as the likes of Master Chocolatier Paul a Young and Executive Pastry Chef Nicolas Rouzaud impart their knowledge. Plus, the festival has paired up with none another than Le Cordon Bleu, an institute making sweet waves in the culinary industry. The influence from LCB will include two of its alumni each demonstrating pâtisserie techniques, so you can wow your pals at your next mock-up Come Dine With Me.
From Saturday 17- Sunday 18th August
