Celebrating its fifth decade of service and over 15 years retaining a Michelin star, L’Ortolan continues to be a beacon of Berkshire’s fine dining restaurant scene offering a unique, luxury, timeless quality in its style and setting and impeccable attention to detail in its dishes and service.
So, knowing this, we bet you’re up for a wine pairing series at the famed resto! If so, good news; this Thursday (11th of July) Matteo Inama, owner of the Inama Estate in Italy, will talk guests through his versatile volcanic range of wines during a spellbinding evening that will include a five glass wine flight. These vines are grown at the base of volcanoes and produce rich, flavoursome wines, leaving little else to say but cheers!

Before SW19 there’s SW18. The slightly less salubrious cousin to Wimbledon, Wandsworth is nevertheless changing fast. And nowhere is that more obvious than The Ram Quarter. The former site of the Ram Bewery has been given a total makeover, with flats, restaurants and businesses and, drum roll, a big Wimbledon Screen. Set in a sunny courtyard, this is the perfect place to enjoy the action, and because it’s something of a secret, you’ll probably get a seat and one of the best Wimbledon cinema experiences.

It’s just not fair. But, to make up for it, 1 Lombard Street are throwing an epic summer party and giving away Pimm’s cocktails and canapés for free for an hour! Ladies and gents, did you know that this summer marks the 100th edition and 20th anniversary of The Chap magazine? Founded in 1999 this stalwart mag will be throwing a fabulous get together to mark the event; The Grand Flâneur Walk, in fact, which will take place on the 14th of July – Or Bastille Day, if you will! The magazine is deemed a ‘journal for the modern gentleman’ and the gorgeous cologne, Flâneur by The Chap, released alongside the 100th edition reflects the gentlemanly aura associated with the mag.

The wonderful author of Charred: the complete guide to vegetarian grilling and barbecue, Genevieve Taylor, is popping up at The Stafford this Saturday to fire up a delightful Courtyard barbecue with culinary director Ben Tish. Willing the rain to stay away, the author will be grilling up goodies such as mini jerk-spiced plantain, shallot and halloumi kebabs and Baba ganoush with flatbread chips. Veggies, vibrant dishes will be available in abundance for you too, inclusive of butternut squash and feta with smoked beetroot cubes and fennel chilli croutons.
