The 6 Best Apps to Help You Sleep
Let’s face it, we’re Brits so we really can’t afford to complain about the weather, but gosh where would we be without fans in this sticky, tossing and turning heat-wave. Undeniably, sleeping has been up there with rocket-science recently – nearing a stage of pure impossibility, resulting in large holes in our pockets from purchasing enough coffee to keep us going through the working day. Eye bags have been rife, tempers have been a’bubbling, and we’re sure we’ve witnessed people out in the streets re-enacting a rain dance of some sort.
So, for when even the cold side of the pillow won’t suffice, we’ve rounded up a series of this years’ best sleep apps, to lull you back into bright-eyed and busy-tailed ways.
Power N(app)ing
Pzizz
Pzizz has “zzz’s” in it for a reason – this nifty little app uses psychoacoustic principles to create dreamscapes that help you fall into your own personalised sleep. The star of a J.K.Rowling tweet and apparent brains behind Roy Hibbert’s insomnia cure, the app is big on power napping and feeling refreshed – well, that makes two of us!

Let it Rain
Rain Rain
We might not like rain when we’re in the midst of it, but boy do we like it in the sack. Rain, Rain Sleep Sounds has a bundle of samples to drift off to, from rain to ocean waves to crackling fire. We’re falling asleep writing this.

Digital Duvet Day
Digipill
The website description of Digipill is as follows: Digipill uses psychoacoustics to allow you to unlock your subconscious and change your perception.
If that doesn’t sound like sleep-ception, we’re not sure what does. However, it sounds science-y and therefore it might be worth a whirl. You simply choose a digipill you think would suit you, then sit back and relax with your headphones. Digipills range from stopping smoking, to becoming a babe magnet, gaining closure or enjoying your tea break.

Don't Be Alarmed
Good Morning Alarm Clock
No-one really likes alarm clocks, let’s face it. We might get them in all different shapes and sizes in an attempt to make them see like a more attractive option, but at the end of the day we’re still going to give them a good ol’ whack on the head when they wake us up in the morning.
Queue Good Morning Alarm Clock, where you place your Android close to allow the alarm clock to monitor signals from your body, which allows you to then wake up softly. You’ll also get detailed analysis of your sleep patterns and gentle, natural sounds to lull you to sleep.

Counting Sheep
Sleep Cycle
There’s nothing worse than being woken up in a deep slumber, am I right? You’re groggy, everything annoys you and you end up falling back to sleep, snoozing all of your alarms, missing work and getting fired.
OK, that’s not necessarily true, but the moral of the story is, being woken up when you’re in a lighter sleep stage is much more welcomed, which is what Sleep Cycle does. The app tracks your sleep patterns and wakes you up during lighter periods of sleep, so you wake up feeling naturally rested. Always a bonus, hey!

Talking the Talk
Sleep Talk Recorder
Ok so this doesn’t exactly help you sleep, but it makes you want to go to sleep for the pure hilarity of it all. Sleep Talk Recorder is the app that records you sleeping, making your mornings more magical with clippings of you saying all words under the sun during your slumber. Trust me, we’ve tried it and we’re pretty scarred for life… especially as you can tune into other people’s.
