“My New Favourite Beauty Product Costs Less Than £12”

I’m not proud to admit it, but when it comes to my daily skincare and makeup routine, I’m lazy. Any corner I can cut (except for SPF, of course), it’s gone. I’m also impatient. So, essentially, I want to see instant results for minimum effort. While it feels like a tall order, I’ve actually found something that delivers on both fronts. Oh, and it’s also under £12.
Why I love it
As someone who has redness, colour correction is one of the main reasons I wear makeup day to day. The thing is, with applying serums and moisturisers, then sunscreen, foundation, et cetera, my daily routine only seems to get longer.
Plus, with so many layers on top of each other, and as much time as my morning allows for them to settle individually, I’ve experienced quite a few product combinations that pill.
When I came across Altruist’s Dematologist Anti-Redness & Pigment Light SPF 50 Tinted Facial Moisturiser, which colour-corrects, moisturises, and helps protect your skin from the sun, I was instantly intrigued.
On the SPF front, this product has a 5-star UVA rating, in addition to UVB coverage. As with any sunscreen product, though, reapplication throughout the day is recommended for optimal protection. Plus, I’d also note that you typically need to apply quite a lot of product for full coverage so, to be on the safe side, use this on top of your regular sunscreen.
Since the first use a few months ago, I think there have only been 2 days that I haven’t used it.

How it applies
Due to the anti-redness pigment, the product comes out of the tube in a minty green hue. As soon as you start blending it into the skin, it starts to change colour to match your skin tone.
I’d be really interested to see how different skin tones find the colour match. For me, though, it’s great as long as I blend it properly. If you don’t focus on blending, you can risk being left with orange-y patches – something the new ‘Light’ formulation is undoubtedly aimed at minimising.
While you can apply the product with your fingertips, I get the best result with a foundation brush.

The results
The photo on the left is me with nothing on my skin, and on the right, after using the Altruist product as my base (topped with my regular concealer and bronzer, so you can see the complete look). You can see a noticeable difference in how even my skin tone looks, especially across the apples of my cheeks, chin and nose.
