From £30 Sharing Feasts To The Savoy, These Are The Roasts To Book This Autumn

There are few things that make the end of summer easier to accept than the return of Sunday roast season. Crispy potatoes, an oversized Yorkshire pudding, a ridiculous amount of gravy and the reasonable assumption that you will be crawling into bed afterwards. And this autumn, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants is going particularly big on them.
In Partnership With Gordon Ramsay Restaurants
Across London, you can spend Sunday over everything from dry-aged sirloin at the Savoy Grill to enormous sharing boards piled with beef, chicken and pork. Better still, Ramsay’s Ultimate Sunday Roast sharing board starts from £30 per person. So, whether you’re after the full white-tablecloth affair or just want a very good roast followed by an equally good Sunday afternoon doing nothing, here’s where to book.
Savoy Grill
Best for: Going all out
There are Sunday roasts, and then there are Sunday roasts at The Savoy.
Savoy Grill has had more than a century to get this meal right, and its version sticks closely to the classics. Dry-aged sirloin of beef arrives with golden roast potatoes, glazed carrots, seasonal cabbage and the non-negotiable Yorkshire pudding, all finished with a rich jus.
It’s the one to book when Sunday lunch is the plan rather than something squeezed into the middle of it or decided on a whim. Settle into one of those iconic burgundy booths, order the beef and take it as a special occasion.

When: Sundays, 12pm–5pm

River Restaurant
Best for: Beef obsessives
Over at River Restaurant, the beef has an unusually local story. The restaurant has started working with a new butcher on Hercules Road, just across the Thames, sourcing 28-day dry-aged, grass-fed, free-range Aberdeen Angus for its Sunday roast.
The trimmings are nothing short of a masterpiece, too. Roast potatoes are crisped in beef dripping, with glazed carrots, braised red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire pudding straight from the oven alongside.
With those huge windows, this is the one we’d choose for a long Sunday lunch that warrants getting slightly dressed up for.

Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers
Best for: A Southbank Sunday
A walk along the Southbank followed by a roast is about as convincing a Sunday plan as you’ll get.
At Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers, you can choose between dry-aged beef sirloin, slow-matured for a deeper flavour and served in thick, pink slices with a caramelised crust, or roast chicken with properly golden, crisp skin.
Both come with the important bits: Yorkshire pudding, beef-fat roast potatoes, honey-glazed carrots, braised hispi cabbage and bubbling cauliflower cheese.
At £34 per person, it’s also a strong middle ground if you want the full roast treatment without quite stretching to Savoy Grill territory.

Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, Heddon Street Kitchen & Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill
Best for: When everyone wants everything
Can’t decide which meat you want? Don’t. Ramsay’s Ultimate Sunday Roast takes the sharing-board approach, piling beef, chicken and pork onto the table alongside crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy and vegetables roasted until golden and caramelised around the edges.
It’s big, generous and exactly the roast you want in front of you when it’s cold outside and you’ve gathered a group around the table. It also starts from £30 per person, making it the most affordable way into Ramsay’s Sunday roast line-up.
For an extra £20 per person, you can add free-flowing Gordon Ramsay Selezionato da Gordon Ramsay red or white wine
Available across Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, Heddon Street Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, it’s the one I’d save for the Sunday when nobody can agree on what to order – thankfully, nobody has to.
Price: From £30 per person
Price varies by restaurant.
So, Which Roast Are You Booking?
If you’re looking for ceremony, Savoy Grill is the obvious grand Sunday out. River Restaurant puts the focus firmly on the beef, while Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers gives you an excuse to make a whole Southbank afternoon of it.
And for the table that wants a bit of everything, there’s something very satisfying about putting an enormous board of beef, chicken, pork and roast potatoes in the middle and letting everyone get on with it.
Whichever you choose, one thing is certain: roast season is very much back.
