The London Restaurant Openings Everyone Will Be Talking About This October

October is shaping up to be a very good month for eating out in London. Some of the city’s most exciting chefs and restaurant teams are opening new doors, from Endo Kazutoshi’s intimate 10-seat omakase to the long-awaited return of Lenny’s to a new café from the team behind Quince Bakery. Elsewhere, cult favourites are expanding, historic dining rooms are being brought back to life and, naturally, there are plenty of new places for pasta, pizza and a very good glass of wine. These are the new London restaurants worth having on your radar right now.
Cloth Cornhill
The team behind Cloth is taking on one of the City’s most historic dining rooms. Joe Haynes, Ben Butterworth and Tom Hurst have spent the past year restoring the Grade II-listed former Simpson’s Tavern, which dates back to 1757 and has been empty since 2022.
Downstairs, the pub will serve cask ales and snacks including sausage pie, Welsh rarebit and pigs’ head brioche, while upstairs Tom Hurst’s restaurant leans into modern British cooking with venison and bone marrow pie, grilled lemon sole and enormous sharing chops. Happily, the old wood-panelled rooms and high-backed dining boxes have survived too.

ENDO
After the fire that closed Endo at the Rotunda, Endo Kazutoshi is beginning a significant new chapter in Chelsea. His new home is a two-storey townhouse formerly occupied by The Five Fields, with just ten seats gathered around a sushi counter made from 200-year-old Kyoto hinoki wood.
The omakase draws on the sushi counters of 1920s and ’30s Tokyo, combining centuries-old Japanese techniques with Endo’s own approach and an extraordinary level of attention to ingredients. Upstairs will eventually sit his intimate bar Moga, although that won’t open independently until December.

Da Pino
Following the closure of Bianca’s, its Stoke Newington home isn’t staying empty for long. Former Casa Fofo head chef Giuseppe “Pino” Pepe and restaurant manager Federico Giannuzzi, both from Puglia, are taking over with Da Pino.
This isn’t another classic Italian trattoria: expect raw scallops with peanut milk and green tomatoes, tomato ravioli with basil, grilled rice with mussels and potatoes and sourdough bread miso ice cream. Sundays will loosen things up with wine, antipasti, snacks and guest DJs playing through the restaurant’s vintage sound system.

Clementine
If you’ve queued for pastries at Quince Bakery, here’s some very good news: Anna Higham is opening an entire café directly opposite. The 20-cover Clementine takes Quince’s British baking sensibility into breakfast and lunch, with tattie scones and scrambled eggs, Staffordshire oatcakes, a sausage sandwich on Quince bread and, later, chicken and tarragon pie and a proper Ploughman’s. Quince’s brown butter buns and scones will make the journey across the road too. Former Forno chef Marcus Westlake is heading up the kitchen.

Dishoom Borough
Yes, London is getting another Dishoom, and this one has enough newness to warrant attention. Its Borough café takes over two floors of the Grade II-listed Hop Exchange, drawing inspiration from Bombay’s Crawford Market and its spice merchants.
The familiar Dishoom menu will be joined by Borough exclusives, including slow-roasted Keralan pepper chicken with Malabar paratha and a Black and Thunder Flip made with Johnnie Walker Black Label and Thums Up. Better still, the soft launch runs from 12th–20th October with 50% off food.

Where: 11–13 Park Street

The Last Exchange
A £5 pint in the City is enough to pique our interest before we even reach the food. The Last Exchange is a new British pub opening in Broadgate with a menu that takes pub classics seriously without making them unrecognisable. Expect battered oysters with tartare sauce, deep-filled beef shin pie and The Breville, a beef mince toastie with Lea & Perrins gravy for dipping. Fridays bring unlimited steak and frites for £35, while Sundays are reserved for roasts.

Alto 19
Nineteen floors up at Locke Canary Wharf, Alto 19 is White Rabbit Projects’ new rooftop restaurant, bar and late-night lounge. Former Daphne’s and J Sheekey chef Chris Dargavel is leading the kitchen with a modern Mediterranean menu spanning cacio e pepe gnocco fritto, bluefin tuna crudo, handmade pasta, salt-baked branzino and dry-aged ribeye cotoletta.
The wraparound windows provide the skyline views, while a chrome 1960s-inspired DJ booth signals what happens once dinner finishes.

Solis Soho
Solis is finally getting a restaurant of its own. Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng, the duo behind TĀ TĀ Eatery, first launched the South American-inspired concept at Arcade Battersea in 2023; its new Kingly Street flagship lets them expand considerably.
The signature grilled chicken with smoked Aji-Aji chilli oil and flat iron steak remain, joined by sharing cuts, croquetas, elotes, Uruguayan-style prawn cocktail and brioche bocadillos. Add house sangria by the jug and a proper bar and this feels like the fully realised version of Solis.

ROAST Shoreditch
More than two decades after opening above Borough Market, ROAST is getting a second London restaurant. The new 135-cover Shoreditch outpost lands inside Virgin Hotels on Curtain Road, serving breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea and dinner alongside the Sunday roast on which the original made its name.
The interiors draw on the neighbourhood’s horticultural history and nearby Columbia Road Flower Market, with the space designed as a Victorian-inspired urban conservatory complete with an orangery and chef’s table.

Lenny’s
After building a cult following during its residency at The Bedford Tavern in Finsbury Park, Lenny’s is back, this time permanently. Max Lewis has teamed up with MJMK to open a Covent Garden pizzeria dedicated to New Haven-style apizza, characterised by thin, chewy bases, plenty of char and a little less cheese than your usual pie.
Lewis spent time in Connecticut learning the style, and favourites from the residency are returning, including the tomato pie and The Lenny, split between tomato, garlic and pecorino on one side and a classic mozzarella pie on the other.

B. Penhale
The team behind Camille is turning its attention to British and Irish cooking for its next restaurant. Chef-patron Elliot Hashtroudi will lead B. Penhale, named after his grandmother Betty, inside the Grade II-listed former Club Gascon site near Smithfield Market.
White tablecloths and Victorian dining rituals provide the framework, while Hashtroudi’s whole-carcass approach means offal and lesser-used cuts will feature heavily. There’s also a six-seat walk-in bar with its own changing chalkboard menu and a wine list putting British winemakers front and centre.

Carmelina’s
Carmelina’s wants you to arrive for breakfast and somehow still be there at midnight. Opening inside The Webster Covent Garden, the Italian all-day restaurant combines a 100-cover dining room with an upstairs café-bar and covered terrace, plus a hidden cocktail bar downstairs called Carla’s.
Head chef Simone Serafini’s menu centres on handmade pasta, seafood and Italian classics, including deep red Sicilian prawns and porchetta with friarielli. Breakfast brings focaccia, scrambled eggs, and Diavola shakshuka before the building gradually shifts into aperitivo territory.

Three Uncles
Three Uncles is going back to the Hong Kong siu mei shops and food courts that originally inspired it for its latest opening. The new 50-cover King’s Cross restaurant will keep char siu, crispy pork belly and roast duck at its heart, but expand the experience around them with a bigger drinks list, organic wines, craft beer and Hong Kong desserts.
By night, the lights and music will change gears too, making this less of a grab-your-roast-meat-and-go operation and more somewhere to stay for another round.

Where: 66 York Way, London N1 9AG

Toasteé
The team behind Panadera and Donia is turning its attention to French toast. Florence Mae Maglanoc and chef Adrian Kyle Felipe are opening Toasteé inside Westfield White City, combining thick slices of French toast with Filipino flavours. The signatures include ube jam, matcha ganache and Milo cookies & cream, alongside a whole ube drinks menu spanning Ube Milk, Ube Foam Matcha and Ube Horchata. There’ll also be soft serves including miso caramel and pandan coconut. It’s tiny, with just 15 seats, but given Panadera’s following, expect queues.

Yield
Natural wine bar and bottle shop Yield is adding a third North London address to its collection. The new Essex Road site follows Newington Green and Highbury Corner, with a smaller edit of the things it already does particularly well: natural wine, cheese, charcuterie and snacks.
Everything will be available to have in or take away, including bottles from the shelves, making it somewhere between neighbourhood wine shop and casual drinking spot. Rather fittingly, it’s opening on the same stretch of Essex Road as Jolene, which is already its neighbour over in Newington Green.
