There’s never been a summer better suited to the staycation. Like ever. Forget Greece, back-in-your-box Spain, it’s all about London-town this July and August. No Ryanair fine for not printing your ticket, no death-wish taxi ride to your hotel, no getting mugged in Barcelona, no we’re staycating right here in London. And there’s plenty going on to make it half-decent.

Slip n Slide Fest

It's slippery, it's wet

The Slip and Slide phenomenon is rushing in waves to the UK, drenching everything in its path. Welcome to the UK’s first, and biggest, 1,000 ft Slip and Slide festival, held for one day (and one day only) in Finsbury Park. The festival will host a three lane, inflatable water slide called The Sun Slider, the size of three football pitches. Expect  foam cannon, mist cannon, DJ beats, high platform free-fall jumps, mini water slides, and most definitely food vendors. It’s dripping with fun and it’s going to be very, very wet.
Sunday 5 Aug 2018, from 10am to 6pm

Inner City Zip Lining

No big deal, I'm not scared of heights...

If you enjoy thrilling rides and outbound activities, this is the one for you. The world’s longest and fastest city-centre zip line event is here all summer and you’ll be screaming your way across the capital. Launch from over 100 ft (the equivalent height to nine double-decker buses), and find a whole new perspective on London with views toward Westminster and Battersea as you travel at speed. What’s more, zip with two friends riding alongside. And to finish, you get to jump the ‘mega drop’, a 50ft tower at the end of the line, the perfect end to your Zip Now experience.

You’ll be enthralled, and they’re even putting on a special midnight matinee performance on Friday 14 September, starting at exactly a minute before midnight.

The Albion

When you're sunbathing and drinking, it's always happy hour

The Albion is a great place to relax and forget the stresses of life. Found in central Islington, just off Upper Street, it’s a gastropub occupying an impressive Georgian restoration; with French airy windows and one of the best beer gardens in the area it’s not just picturesque, it’s renowned. And not least for its delicious whole roast suckling pig, a menu about seasonality and tradition. Grab a glass of wine, have your Sunday roasts here and enjoy the sun with great company.

Movies on the River

Sunset on the Thames

When it’s hot out, the last place you probably want to be is a sealed black room, which means the cinema’s off, right? No, not right. And at Movies On The River they’ll throw in a boat ride. The cinema boat leaves Tower Pier at 8.30pm every night throughout July and August with the movie beginning around 9pm, as the sun sets.  Watch on the big screen on the open-air top deck with cult classics from Dirty Dancing to Legally Blonde. No sign of Titanic, though…
Starting from 5 July – 18 August 2018

Where: Tower Millennium Pier, Lower Thames Street, The City, EC3N 4DT

Regent Street's Summer Streets

Flock to Regent Street

London is famously congested, but not during Summer Streets. Normally chokkablock, Regent Street will suddenly clear and taxis, busses and lorries will be replaced by pedestrians and stalls. With the neighbouring shops offering gifts, discounts, plus activities and music zones with live performances along the whole length of the street, you can shop to your heart’s content.
Each Sunday during July, so the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd
