How To Have The Perfect London Staycation
There’s never been a summer better suited to the staycation. Like ever. Forget Greece, back-in-your-box Spain, it’s all about London-town this July and August. No Ryanair fine for not printing your ticket, no death-wish taxi ride to your hotel, no getting mugged in Barcelona, no we’re staycating right here in London. And there’s plenty going on to make it half-decent.
Slip n Slide Fest
It's slippery, it's wet
The Slip and Slide phenomenon is rushing in waves to the UK, drenching everything in its path. Welcome to the UK’s first, and biggest, 1,000 ft Slip and Slide festival, held for one day (and one day only) in Finsbury Park. The festival will host a three lane, inflatable water slide called The Sun Slider, the size of three football pitches. Expect foam cannon, mist cannon, DJ beats, high platform free-fall jumps, mini water slides, and most definitely food vendors. It’s dripping with fun and it’s going to be very, very wet.

The Albion
When you're sunbathing and drinking, it's always happy hour
The Albion is a great place to relax and forget the stresses of life. Found in central Islington, just off Upper Street, it’s a gastropub occupying an impressive Georgian restoration; with French airy windows and one of the best beer gardens in the area it’s not just picturesque, it’s renowned. And not least for its delicious whole roast suckling pig, a menu about seasonality and tradition. Grab a glass of wine, have your Sunday roasts here and enjoy the sun with great company.

Movies on the River
Sunset on the Thames
When it’s hot out, the last place you probably want to be is a sealed black room, which means the cinema’s off, right? No, not right. And at Movies On The River they’ll throw in a boat ride. The cinema boat leaves Tower Pier at 8.30pm every night throughout July and August with the movie beginning around 9pm, as the sun sets. Watch on the big screen on the open-air top deck with cult classics from Dirty Dancing to Legally Blonde. No sign of Titanic, though…
