Once the home of actress Lille Langtry and the place of Oscar Wilde’s arrest, Knightsbridge favourite, The Cadogan Hotel is set to reopen following its closure back in 2014.

Returning at the end of the year as the Belmond Cadogan Hotel, it’ll feature 54 rooms and suites, a new restaurant by a celebrated chef and a spa and fitness suite.

Rooms will pay heritage to the building’s past whilst staying bright, striking and luxurious.   We of course, have our eye on the Royal Suite.  Not only is it the largest suite, it also has the most interesting history, as it’s the room where Oscar Wilde was arrested. So, if you fancy staying in a room where a literary great was taken down, this is the room you need to book. It boasts an expansive marble bathroom, a living room, balcony, dedicated butler service, fireplace and views out over the Cadogan Place garden from the bathtub – which we sure will be enhanced with a glass of Champagne and a good book.

Talking of the garden, you won’t just have to peer at it from your bath as hotel guests will have access to the gated garden which is usually only reserved for locals. Here you can escape the busy streets of Knightsbridge, play a game of tennis, visit the Chelsea Physic Garden and chill out with a picnic.

It’s also been announced that chef, Adam Handling (The Frog Hoxton and Frog by Adam Handling in Covent Garden) will be overseeing the dining at the hotel with the opening of his next restaurant, Adam Handling, Chelsea. Speaking about his appointment he said, ‘Modern, British, seasonal, sustainable; that’s the ethos that underpins my cooking. I don’t want to be the best restaurant in the world—I want to be the local’s favourite in Chelsea.’ Elsewhere in the hotel you’ll find the bar, a terrace café serving up Mediterranean inspired dishes and The Cadogan Tea Lounge, which does mean that’s there going to be a new spot for us Londoners to indulge in afternoon tea.

It’s been four years in the making, but there are just three months to go until the Cadogan hotel shaped hole in our lives is filled.

The Belmond Cadogan Hotel is set to open in December 2018 at 75 Sloane Street, Chelsea, SW1X 9SG
