With the new year comes the arrival of new exciting London restaurants opening their doors for the first time, and what a lineup 2024 has in store for us. 

From the latest venture from legendary French chef Claude Bosi to the second outpost from Los Mochis, read on to find out the best restaurants opening this year.

Restaurant Story 

Two Michelin star establishment, Restaurant Story, is set to reopen this January unveiling an exciting £2.5million refurbishment. 

Having firmly closed its doors in early 2023 for the time being, Tom Sellers is relaunching his prized possession, and you only need to glimpse at the first release of photos to know this is one to be excited about. 

The whole space has been fully renovated, complete with a new floor dedicated to an intimate chef’s table experience. It’s fitted with a giant wooden 16-seated table, hanging lights and dark wood finishes. 

Marking the restaurant’s 10th anniversary, Sellers’ renowned fine dining flair will be on display once again.

Josephine

Claude Bosi, the legendary chef behind the establishment nestled within Michelin House and the newly opened Socca and Brooklands, is on the move again, launching yet another restaurant scheduled to land in early 2024. 

Josephine takes its name after Bosi’s late grandmother and will nod to the chef’s hometown of Lyon. It’s said to draw inspiration from classical bouchons, serving up Lyonnaise cuisine and bistro delicacies. 

Working alongside his wife Lucy Bosi, expect a traditional take on French cuisine and specialities found in Lyon, including a set menu and daily plat du jour.

Arlington

From the legend behind The Wolseley and Brasserie Zedel, Jeremy King is rumoured to be launching a brand new restaurant. Set to open in early 2024, the restaurant will be located on the former Le Caprice site. 

So far details have been kept very hush-hush, but it has been reported that the site’s iconic monochromatic art deco interiors will remain, with a 2024 modern twist. 

It’s said to be just one of three new restaurants King is set to open in 2024 so we’ll have to watch this space.

Akira Back London

This might just be the most exciting opening for real foodies. Landing at the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London, this is the first UK outpost from internationally acclaimed Michelin-starred chef, Akira Back. 

Drawing on his Korean heritage and love for modern Japanese cuisine, expect a gastronomic journey with creative dishes destined to impress. Expect bento boxes for lunch, while later in the day, you can look forward to Asian dishes and Back’s ‘greatest hits’.

Mimosa

Forget the fruity brunch favourite, 2024 is all about The Langham’s new exciting opening: Mimosa. 

Bringing a little slice of the South of France to London will be this sun-kissed special. Combining the vibrance of Southern France with the Italian lifestyle, this space will be full of eye-catching décor and sophisticated dishes. 

On the menu, expect the dishes to be inspired by the French Riviera, including blue lobster from Brittany with aioli, fresh grilled octopus and chickpeas to veal paillard, riquette, tomato and olives cooked over a wood fire or grill. 

The slightly unusual offering will come in the form of an egg mimosa bar, served in various ways, including a Niçois tapas. 

Outside, you’ll find a hidden garden terrace, bursting with lush foliage, specially hosted events and a dedicated menu of grilled dishes.

Simpson’s in the Strand

Another month, another reopening from Jeremy King and this time it’s rumoured he’ll be reopening Simpson’s in the Strand. 

Needing little introduction, the beloved restaurant’s history dates as far back as 1828 and King is hoping to reignite Londoner’s love for it once more. Little is known as to when it will reopen or what we can quite expect, however, King told The Times that it will bring “big-theatre brasserie” energy.

The Caviar Bar 

Caviar lovers rejoice, there’s a new destination in town to head to for this fishy delicacy. Landing in Hanover Square, The Caviar Bar does what it says on the tin. It’s an intimate bar dedicated to the finest caviar and seafood, slotted alongside a curated wine selection. 

The main dishes on offer will, of course, be caviar, alongside salmon roe and smoked salmon with a small retail area where customers can purchase in-store. Think Royal Baerii caviar; Oscietra caviar and Royal Beluga caviar. There’ll be a selection of small and larger plates too, from cured sea bream carpaccio and caviar brioches to black cod with miso dressing and gnocchi in a spiced brown crab sauce. Not forgetting a delicious menu for brunch lovers.

Los Mochis London City

The restaurant bridging Tokyo with Tulum, Los Mochis is set to launch a new outpost in Liverpool Street this spring. 

Founded by Markus Thesleff, this latest opening will boast a bar, restaurant, two private dining rooms and an outdoor terrace with striking views of the city. Heading up the kitchen will be ex-Nobu executive chef Leonard Tanyag and will bring dishes like ‘make your own tacos’ with king crab legs and Wagyu grade 5 tomahawk steaks.

Endo at The OWO

Taking Japanese dining sky high will be the final restaurant opening at The OWO. Having launched with huge success and anticipation, the Westminster hotel will be launching Endo at The OWO, a brand new rooftop restaurant from chef patron Endo Kazutoshi. 

Known for his Michelin-starred restaurant, Endo at The Rotunda, the sushi maestro will be bringing his signature flair to the table. The rooftop, boasting views over Buckingham Palace and St James’s Park, will feature a chef’s table experience and private dining area. Alongside the restaurant will be an intimate bar specialising in sake.

Opening Date: Spring 2024

ABC at The Emory 

This will be legendary chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s first UK outpost and will feature his signature dishes from his New York locations. 

Hidden inside the new Old Barrack Yard hotel, ABC at The Emory has been designed by Rémi Tessier and features striking artwork from none other than Damien Hirst. This is the type of place you’ll want to head to for an intimate date night or impress your friends with.
