For live music fans, Ronnie Scott’s is one of London’s most loved institutions, having hosted some of the most talented musicians in the world – you’ve either stood patiently in line to get in or you’ve snagged early bird bookings for its shows. Now, Ronnie Scott’s has announced the February 2026 opening of Upstairs at Ronnie’s, a newly reimagined 140-capacity music venue situated on the first floor of the Soho club. Here’s all we know about it:

What to expect

The upstairs space, which for many years hosted a live programme before closing for refurbishment in 2024, has undergone a complete transformation as part of a major revamp of the entire building. Now, the space has been rebuilt as an intimate auditorium.

Performances will stay true to Ronnie Scott’s reputation of bringing some of the world’s best genre-crossing talent to the stage, taking you from contemporary soul and acoustic R&B to gospel, classical, hip-hop and of course, the finest of jazz music. Upstairs at Ronnie’s will also host its own version of the Ronnie Scott’s Late Late Show, which will showcase emerging grassroots talent.

Expect striking new interiors, enhanced acoustics and fabulous sound and lighting.

Who will perform?

The opening programme will feature a Piano Trio Series spotlighting some leading UK artists, including Ashley Henry, Reuben James, Charlie Stacey, and DoomCannon. There will be a vocal jazz jam hosted by Natalie Williams, Emma Smith, and Georgia Cécile, plus acoustic soul and R&B from club favourites Vula Malinga, Vanessa Haynes, and Tony Momrelle.

The opening programme will feature a Piano Trio Series spotlighting some leading UK artists.

Singer-songwriter Tawiah and garage and house legend Elisabeth Troy will play a set, and the first-ever Ronnie Scott’s Classical Series, co-directed by Lizzie Ball and James Pearson, will feature the Ronnie Scott’s Classical All Stars and a hand-picked line-up of classical soloists and ensembles, and the brand-new Ronnie Scott’s Gospel Choir.

Something we’re quite excited about is that Ronnie’s Scott’s will be opening its backstage spaces to the public, known as the Greene Rooms (named after owner Sally Greene). These rooms will function as a club within a club, serving as a members’ lounge and artist space.

Designed to be a space where artists feel truly valued, and where audiences can get up close with phenomenal music and witness extraordinary live performances, the new space looks like the next big thing to happen to the London live music scene. After 65 years of being one of the hottest jazz spots in London, this is definitely slated to be one of London’s most exciting new openings for next year. Judging by the fact that tickets are already on sale (and some of the shows are sold out), you know you’re going to have to work pretty hard to get yourself a booking here.
