We’ve loved  ballet pumps and trainers, but for those looking for a little height and a lot of sophistication, you’ll want to step right into the latest footwear trend. Sleek, chic and totally timeless, pointed slingback heels are at the top of our new season wish list.

As much as we’re all craving warmer days, I’m pretty sure most of us aren’t ready to bare all in strappy sandals. Thankfully the Insta set is showcasing their love for the perfect spring shoes. There’s nothing new about them, but slingbacks are having a magic moment. Thanks in part to the covetable and now iconic Miu Miu buckle slingbacks, these and a plethora of dupes are everywhere. Featuring a pointed closed toe, and a low slung strap, these heels are pure class and the dream excuse to postpone your spray tan and pedicure.

To avoid chilly ankles, these beauties work to perfection with tights and socks. However, when the sun finally makes an appearance, the outfit options are endless. Slip them on with dresses, lace-trimmed slips, mini skirts or relaxed tailoring. Or my fave look: pair with denims – anything from your barrel leg jeans to your denim midi – for the ultimate smart casual combo.

Classic styles can be found at Russell & Bromley, The Fold and & Other Stories. If, however, you’re looking for a more contemporary twist on the traditional slingback, Bimba Y Lola’s studded pumps are divine, while the mesh kitten heels from Cos couldn’t be more of the moment. Speaking of which, if you’re looking for a pair totally on point, snap up the Zara ones in red, only this season’s favourite colour. The decision is over to you.

Miu Miu’s cult kitten heel slingbacks continue to rise in popularity. Spotted on Gigi Hadid last year, they’re still favourites with all the key style influencers, proving that these are heels worth investing in.
