What inspired you to start your influencer platform?

In 2018, we moved house into a big renovation project and I wanted to document the journey but also needed to motivate myself to get cleaning! I loved watching fashion, fitness and beauty bloggers, but there were not many accounts sharing home content or their favourite products, so I decided to just be myself and start sharing our home.

What’s your secret to making cleaning feel less like a chore and more enjoyable?

Having products that smell divine and actually work makes cleaning so much more enjoyable. My cleaning products are like an extension of my skincare and beauty products. They are part of my self-care routine, so I actually enjoy using them to de-stress and unwind.

I also love cleaning gadgets as they make it much easier, faster and even fun.

Tell us about a small daily habit that helps keep your home organised long-term

Little and often is key to keeping on top of cleaning. Habit stacking is a great way to be more productive with your daily habits, so for example, wiping down the sink while brushing your teeth or wiping down the surfaces while waiting for the kettle to boil.

Are there any common mistakes people make when trying to declutter?

I find decluttering can be quite overwhelming, and I think the most common mistake is that we try to take on too much, making it hard to even get started. What helps me is to break decluttering down into small, manageable tasks. For example, decluttering one kitchen drawer or one corner of a room at a time. I have a series on my socials called ‘The Decluttering Diaries’ where I document decluttering my home using this method.

How does a clean and organised home impact your mental well-being?

Having a clean, clutter-free home is the foundation of my self-care routine. My home represents my headspace, so if I’m stressed and busy, then it tends to be messy, and by cleaning and decluttering, it helps me to relax and focus by doing something productive.

If my kitchen is clean, it motivates me to cook healthy, fresh meals; if my bedroom is clean, I sleep better, and if my bathroom is clean, then it creates a more relaxing environment for me to enjoy the rest of my self-care routine. It’s self-care for me and my home at the same time.

What’s the most rewarding part of sharing your cleaning journey and tips with your followers?

The most rewarding part is helping to motivate others to clean and care for their homes. I love creating content and it makes me so happy when my followers say that they find watching my videos therapeutic.

I hope that my content is a safe, relaxing space for my audience to have a moment of mindfulness.

Where do you find inspiration for new content?

I tend to just film whatever needs cleaning in my home, as that is never-ending content! I like to experiment with different shots and keep it as realistic as possible.

What’s your advice to someone looking to start their own online platform?

The most important thing is to be authentic to yourself. There are so many creators online now, so being true to yourself is what allows you to stand out from others.

And are there any funny anecdotes you’ve had from interactions with your community?

I always get messages asking for my slippers or my cleaning gloves!

What’s something your followers might be surprised to learn about you?

I’ve ran two marathons in Paris, raising money for Macmillan. I also went to University in Canada for six months as part of my degree.
