7 Seasonal Beauty Swaps Our Beauty Editor Will Be Making This Spring

As the seasons change, so does my makeup and skincare game. Winter vibes call for full-coverage foundations, bold bronzers, and statement lips. But when spring rolls around, it’s time to lighten up. Who needs heavy makeup weighing them down when there’s sunshine to soak up?
I’m all about that fresh-faced glow and effortless skincare with hybrid products that save time. So, say goodbye to cakey foundation and dense moisturisers and hello to breathable, barely-there makeup and lighter lotions. Here are the swaps that I’m making to my toiletries and makeup bag…
Sensible Skincare
1. Cleansing Balm → Foaming Cleanser
If, like me, you adore a luxurious balm cleanser but notice pesky breakouts when seasons shift, it’s time for a refreshing switch-up. While balms work wonders, they can leave residue, triggering breakouts for some. Opt for a gel cleanser to keep your skin feeling fresh and super lightweight.

2. Toner → Mist
Spring skincare is your chance to reboot and rejuvenate your complexion. Enter essences and mists, my skin’s best friends especially on sticky summer days. These lightweight wonders are perfect for everyone, delivering a refreshing burst of hydration without clogging pores or leaving residue.

3. Day Cream → Light Day Cream
Keep your skin hydrated and happy— every day! As spring blooms, swap heavy winter moisturisers for lighter, water-based formulas that penetrate fast and won’t leave you with a greasy veil on your skin.

4. SPF 30 → SPF 50
Come rain, snow, even a thunderstorm, I’m always sporting an SPF, but once the temperature rises, it’s a non-negotiable swap to SPF50. My face formulas blend effortlessly into my routine, without feeling heavy or sticky. FYI: Oily skin should skip moisturiser and go straight to SPF after serum to experience that same weightless feel on their skin.

5. Foundation → Tinted Moisturiser
At the first sign of blossom, I lighten up my routine with a dewy, glowing finish. I opt for weightless textures that feel comfortable on my sweaty skin. Love your winter foundation? Mix it with serum or moisturiser for a tinted-moisturiser vibe, and then follow with a liquid illuminator for extra glow. Voilà!

6. Powder Blush →Balmy Glow
I’m a strong believer that blush doesn’t get the attention it deserves. I use it daily to cheat a good night’s sleep and healthy flush – it’s my secret weapon to bringing colour and life to my face. However, come Spring and I wave goodbye to my heavier powders and hello to my cheek stains and light dewy blush formulas.

7. Lipstick → Tinted Lip Balm
I’m never far from a tinted lip balm, especially during the warmer months. A glass-like pout with a pop of colour is much more flattering to my Spring wardrobe than a bold matte lip, plus lip balms are less sticky than gloss and more hydrating than a lipstick. What’s to argue?
