The 6 Sunglasses Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing In 2025

From cat-eye styles to retro aviators, we reveal the trending sunglasses this season. Now, all we need is the sun to shine and possibly a tropical destination…
While I can’t promise you sunshine, I can definitely help you find the most stylish sunnies. As a bit of a sunglasses obsessive, I often preach the benefits of this simple accessory. Not only do they protect from those UV rays, but they conceal a bad night’s sleep while also looking undeniably cool. Choose the right pair, and you’re in the fast lane to fabulous. Fact.
This season, the feline look is dominating. Think ’50s-inspired cat-eye styles, which add instant glam to any situation. Designer label Loewe is also partly responsible for the resurgence in bold, colourful shades—we’re talking scarlet reds and citrus brights.
However, if you’re after something less dramatic, oval and rectangular shapes are as popular as ever, with the likes of Hailey Bieber sporting them. Retro aviators are having a real moment, especially after being featured on the catwalks at Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, and Chloé with futuristic and bohemian styling. This is definitely my kind of tribe.
From supersized aviators and mask styles to retro cat-eyes, this season’s sunnies are packing a punch.
The newest looks on the scene are geometric shapes and mask styles. We’re talking: oversized hexagons, diamonds, and sporty visors. Balenciaga, Céline, and Isabel Marant all embraced the bigger-is-better vibe. If the budget allows, you’re definitely spoilt for choice.
1. Cat-eye
Designers have clearly looked to nostalgia as this statement-worthy style makes a strong comeback. Exaggerated wings make these shades super striking, so it’s no surprise to see numerous influencers donning them. Seen at Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Dior… It’s more a case of where they weren’t featured. Unleash your inner diva and jump on this trend pronto.
2. Oval
Not new, but it’s still a go-to. Softer on the face than their more angular counterparts, these will suit sharp cheekbones. The eyewear and activewear brand, Vehla, is a must with the style set. I’m definitely adding to my wish list.
3. Rectangular
This cut is guaranteed to be a festival must-have. Simple yet chic, this sleek shape offers shade and all the vibes. Topshop’s tinted shades are everything, while Bloobloom’s take on the trend is aptly named The Boss. Here for that.
4. Colourful
Hello summer! Not for the fainthearted, this season’s explosion of colour is spectacular. Loewe led the way with sunnies in all manner of hues. Fendi went for yellows, Gucci brought us pinks, while Balenciaga, Paul Smith and Céline turned up the reds. & Other Stories, of course, was quick to pay homage with their selection of colours.
5. Aviator
A personal favourite, this look will never date. Effortless yet cool, aviators are more androgynous, instantly adding an edge to florals and floaty dresses. For SS25, they’re bolder than ever, bigger than ever and in some cases, more like shields.
6. Geometric
We’re seeing loads of hexagonal and sharp-edged frames for the truly fashion-forward (and seriously glam). Of all the sunglasses trends, this was definitely a catwalk hit spotted at Céline and Jimmy Choo. Get ready to see them all over the high street, from Anthropologie to Topshop.
