One Of Last Year’s Most Underrated Shows Returns For Season 2

If you’ve binged your way through the comedy series Dreamland or crime drama A Town Called Malice, you won’t have too long to wait for your next Sky TV fix. Sky has confirmed that sci-fi thriller The Lazarus Project will air its second season later this year, and is also releasing for the first time in the US.
The first season hit screens last year in June, and while was quietly one of the best British dramas of 2022. This new outing will return of George (Paapa Esseidu) following the dramatic end of Season 1’s final episode.
Here’s everything we know about The Lazarus Project Season 2
If you didn’t catch The Lazarus Project last time around, here’s a catchup of the premise: I May Destroy You star Esseidu plays George, an app developer who keeps experiencing apocalyptic, end of the world events, before suddenly waking up to find his calendar has now gone back six months. Our lead is stuck in a time loop, and secretive organisation The Lazarus Project, who spots that he’s picked up on this, recruits him as an agent. His recruiter is a woman named Archie, played by Anjli Mohindra (The Sarah Jane Adventures, Bodyguard). The team is dedicated to stopping Armageddon, and if this can’t be achieved, they use time travel to turn back the clock to a safer point.

Spoiler warning: during the events of the last season, Sarah, Archie’s pregnant girlfriend, is killed in a car accident. Despite being warned of the consequences, George becomes intent on bringing about the end of the world in order to save the one he loves. But while he eventually succeeds, the Sarah that now survives the accident decides to end her relationship with George- though the two eventually reconcile. She also finds out about George’s time travel ability at the end of the last episode, which will become one of the main plot points of Season 2.
Another thing looming over is the fact that the Lazarus Project is intent on punishing him for breaking the rules, as well as the rather tricky issue of two black holes merging to create an even shorter time loop.
There’s certainly a lot going on, but Sky has promised that there will be answers to these time travel conundrums and more when the show returns. The Lazarus Project is set to arrive on Sky Max and NOW later this year, with an aimed summer release date. You can also expect that, like Season 1, all episodes will release at once for your bingeing pleasure. Season 1 is also coming to the US for the first time on 4th June on TNT, with Season 2 to follow.
