Claire Danes & Ewan McGregor Will Lead New A24 Drama Series, The Spot
Prestige TV drama fans listen up: Homeland star Claire Danes, who is also in the recently released The Beast In Me, and Fargo’s Ewan McGregor are starring together in a new drama series from A24. Mysteriously titled The Spot, it’s currently in development and sees the pair play a husband and wife who realise they might have been responsible for a death without even knowing it. There’s no release date yet, but here’s everything we know so far.
What is The Spot about?
The Spot sees the two powerhouse actors star opposite each other as a married couple, and has been in development for some time – Kate Winslet was originally set to star before Danes stepped in. Danes will play a successful, hard-working surgeon, while McGregor will play her schoolteacher husband. The pair, however, find that their world is rocked when they both start to suspect that she is responsible for a tragedy: a hit-and-run car accident that resulted in the death of a child. How exactly they were both unaware of how the event unfolded is for the series to explain, but it sounds like it’ll be going down the psychological drama route as more is revealed.
Now aware of their involvement in the devastating incident, the couple (both currently unnamed) start searching for more answers and begin to uncover dark secrets and suspicions- about their past, about their marriage, about everything. Their relationship and how far they will go for each other will be tested, and expect plenty of twists and shocking reveals along the way as the couple confront guilt and betrayal.
What else do we know, and is there a release date?
The drama is created and written by Ed Solomon, who previously made the HBO drama Full Circle, and is set to begin filming in the current months. While it’s likely the drama will release late next year, there’s no definitive release date yet. The show is being made for Hulu in the US, meaning it will, like other Hulu shows, drop on Disney+ in the UK.
