Explore this free Bowie exhibition 

A free David Bowie exhibition is set to open this weekend for a limited run. Taking over the Fitzrovia Chapel from 1st – 20th March, David Bowie – A London Day brings together a collection of works by contemporary portrait artist, Kevin Davies. 

Free to the public, this series of photographs were taken over the course of a single day in 1992, a time when Bowie was preparing for the release of Black Tie White Noise. This collection of photographs was used to help promote the album and only a select number were used and approved by Bowie. The original films, contact sheets and prints were put into storage, where they stayed for almost 30 years. 

This exhibition features 20 photographs from the day and offers a rare opportunity to explore both Bowie as the subject, but also analogue photography showcased in a special way.

This Sunday sees Big Penny Social transform into a secondhand lovers’ paradise as it welcomes the Walthamstow Flea Market.

Add to your art collection with this auction 

Interested in owning some original art? Art On A Postcard returns for its fifth annual International Women’s Day Auction, featuring a mix of artists picks from eight guest female curators. 

You’ll have your chance to get an original postcard-sized artwork from one of the emerging and established female artists. All proceeds go towards the Hepatitis C Trust, supporting the work they do with women affected by the criminal justice system. Bidding had officially opened, with bids open until 12th March.

Visit this new music-led exhibition 

NOW Gallery has launched a new limited-run exhibition running for two weeks in March. Presented by War Child, Secret 7” is an anonymous charity record sale whereby leading names from the music and art scene collaborate to produce 700 exclusively limited 7” singles. 

Running from 2nd – 17th March, NOW Gallery will display all 700 individually designed sleeves, from household names to rising stars. The exhibition runs alongside an online auction, where you can bid on your favourite design. 

There’s one twist: the identity of the artist behind the record sleeve isn’t revealed until it’s sold. All proceeds will go towards War Child, the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict.

Book into this supper club 

If you’re after a foodie experience, Cinnamon Kitchen’s supper club is one to bookmark. This weekend sees BBC One’s 2020 Masterchef: The Professionals final four return for an epic two-day kitchen takeover. 

It’ll see Santosh Shah, Philli Armitage-Mattin, Bart Van der Lee and Alex Web reunite for a special five-course menu showcasing each chef’s unique style and flair. 

Each chef will prepare a canapé to be shared family style, from Bart’s white crab with avocado, pickled celery, puffed quinoa and tarragon to Santosh’s spiced pomelo with fenugreek seeds, dalle khursani, mustard oil, marigold leaf, sorrel and edible flowers, alongside another dish.

The creative cocktail team has drawn inspiration from iconic figures of the 20th and 21st centuries. Expect to dip into the evening on the Love Generation, a cocktail inspired by Greta Thunberg featuring the ‘wasted’ skin of citrus fruits used within the bar and repurposing them into a cordial, with Ketel One Vodka; and the Double Fantasy, inspired by Yoko Ono featuring velvety Japanese vodka and Junmai Sake with clarified banana juice to create a mellow, yet elegant style.

This weekend sees Bolton Castle reopen for the spring-summer season and to celebrate they will be hosting a two-day Tudor-inspired weekend.

Get inspired at this film festival 

Banff Mountain Film Festival is once again touring its 2024 winning films and shorts, and they are landing in a town near you. 

Bringing to life the spirit of extreme adventure in some of the world’s most remote places, the UK and Ireland tour has kicked off. 2024’s lineup of films looks incredibly brilliant, with shorts from inspiring individuals taking on impressive challenges. 

This Saturday 2nd March sees the tour land in Tunbridge Wells, with a matinee performance of its Blue film lineup and an evening screening of its Red film lineup.
