This White Lotus Star Is Playing A Very Different Character In New Thriller, Top Of The Rock

Actor Leslie Bibb was one of the breakout stars of season 3 of The White Lotus this year for her role as Kate, but now she’s set to step into a very different role. Top of the Rock, starring Bibb as the lead character, is set in the 1980s and combines crime and political thriller. It’s also an Icelandic production and is on track for release in the near future. Here’s everything you need to know:
What is Top of the Rock about?
The upcoming drama is set in 1983, a period of tension between the Soviet Union and NATO during the Cold War. The White Lotus star plays Captain Diane Goodman, a member of the US military who is stationed at the Keflavik NATO base in Iceland. The personnel there are thrown into uncertainty, however, when an American soldier is found dead just outside the base. The death seems suspicious, and immediately, questions and doubts about what happened arise. As a military police investigator, Goodman is tasked with investigating the case and finding answers, and is partnered with MP Sarah Ellis. They need to work closely with the Icelandic police, but soon find that there are many dark secrets being hidden, ones that could cause serious diplomatic damage. Espionage, betrayal, deceit — it’s all here as both women rush to prevent anyone else dying.
What else do we know?
We’re familiar with Scandi-noirs, but Top of the Rock wants to introduce us to more Icelandic thrillers: Kristinn Thordason, one of the show’s producers, commented, “Top of the Rock will redefine Icelandic noirs for audiences around the globe…it will reinvigorate their passion for complex and captivating storytelling in the most picturesque setting.” The show is slated to be a six-episode-long miniseries and is being produced by Icelandic production company TrueNorth.
There’s currently no confirmation on which platform the series will be available on- expect that to be announced soon, or further casting details. It’s safe to say, though, that those who loved Kate (and her viral facial expressions) in The White Lotus will be enthralled by Bibb’s more serious turn in Top of the Rock.
