From floor skimming kaftans over vintage-inspired swimwear to understated linen co-ords layered over a simple bikini, whatever your beach vibe looks like, we’ve picked some stellar looks from the squares of Instagram to inspire you with.

Few things beat lazy days at the beach or by the pool, but slipping back into swimwear after a three-year hiatus (for some of us, anyway) can feel pretty daunting. So, we’ve taken style tips from the likes of travel and style influencer Lucy Williams and the ultimate in laid back LA vibes, Julie Sariñana, to show you how to do beach looks with a little bit of cover up.

Look 1 – Striped Shirts & Shorts

Striped PJ-style co-ords are everywhere right now and they are the easiest thing to throw on over a bikini or one-piece. The oversized top will keep things cool and covered if you’re in the sun, whilst the high-waist shorts are super flattering. We love how Instagram star Julie Sariñana adds a polished finished with pearlescent oversized earrings and statement white sunnies, but it’s The Frankie Shop’s Riviera stripes set that we really want to soak up the sun in. Throw over a simple off-white ribbed bikini.

Look 2 – Vintage Style Glamour

If there is one influencer who knows how to inject some vintage modern glam into her poolside looks, it’s Anna Vitiello. Whether she’s by the beach or in the city you can expect the fashion content creator’s looks to be unashamedly extra – heels and OTT accessories mandatory.

Here she pairs Khaite’s wonderfully retro inspired polka dot bikini (it could actually pass for vintage) with an iconic Versace scarf and statement white sunglasses. Keep the look more practical by swapping the yellow Clergerie shoes for more sand-friendly, barely-there  sandals.

Look 3 – High Waists & Long Kaftans

Take style notes from the queen of glamour, Hannah Strafford-Taylor, and pair a high-wasited bikini with a floor skimming kaftan. Oversized sunnies, statement earrings and a bold lip will finish the look off.

Look 4 – Keep It Monochrome

If you’re after something a little more understated, sticking to a monochrome colour palette on the beach or by the pool can look effortlessly chic. Case in point, Instagram star Lucy William’s simple black bikini and waffty loose trousers combination; or stylist Angie Smith’s crisp white co-ord layered over classic swimwear. Add this season’s comeback flip-flop and raffia accessories to finish.
