New York Fashion Week is officially in full swing, and Anne Hathaway is already clinching the best-dressed title. Cannelling full Andy Sachs ahead of The Devil Wears Prada sequel, she turned heads in a stunning sheer halterneck gown at Ralph Lauren’s fall 2026 show on Tuesday. As Hathaway braces to make her return to Runway magazine later this year, she paired the dress with black sunglasses and cowboy boots that would earn a rare nod of approval from Miranda Priestly herself.

A rundown of the look

Styled by her long-term partner in crime, Erin Walsh, Hathaway’s look was taken from Lauren’s fall 2025 collection. First worn by model Lulu Tenney on the runway, The Devil Wears Prada star put her own twist on the gothic-meets-boho gown, pairing it with a faux fur and ostrich feather jacket and chunky gold jewellery.

Fans have been quick to declare that Miranda Priestly would be proud, while others have claimed that the devil actually wears Ralph Lauren. While Hathaway has been known to own the red carpet, her character Andy Sachs is famously less in tune with the fashion world. However, teasers for the upcoming sequel suggest that Sachs has undergone a style renaissance, perhaps aligning more closely with Hathaway’s impeccable taste.

Fans are in a chokehold

The internet has been quick to react to Hathaway taking over NYFW and commencing her Devil Wears Prada press tour seemingly in one fell swoop, branding the look iconic. As she was pictured arm in arm with Anna Wintour, comments came flooding in praising her effortless elegance. One person wrote: “Anne Hathaway is serving looks at Ralph Lauren and I am here for it.”

Another chimed in on the look writing:

Why is this so aesthetically pleasing to look at though?
