All We Know About Phoebe Dynevor & Diane Lane’s New Thriller, Anniversary
The star of Bridgerton (season one), Phoebe Dynevor, is back on the screen in an enigmatic new thriller, which we can’t wait to see. Anniversary focuses on a once very close and happy family that begins to be torn apart by a powerful new movement called “The Change”, which sweeps through the country. Starring Diane Lane (A Man in Full) and McKenna Grace (The Handmaid’s Tale), it’s set to release later this year- here’s all we know so far:
What is Anniversary about?
What makes Anniversary so intriguing is that we don’t actually know that much of what it’s about. Diane Lane and co-star Kyle Chandler (Back in Action) play husband and wife, Ellen and Paul Taylor, who find their lives descend into disarray when their son Josh (played by Dylan O’Brien) begins dating Liz (Phoebe Dynevor). Liz is a former student of Ellen’s, and her reappearance begins to affect the household. She’s now part of the Taylor family, but her involvement in an apparently influential political movement causes tensions to rise and relationships to crack. Mysterious and unnerving, “The Change” is already affecting the fabric of society and the rest of the country, and now threatens to tear apart the family completely.
The official trailer gives a few more glimpses and clues about what to expect, beginning with Dynevor’s character, Liz, rehearsing in a mirror what she’ll see upon first meeting Josh’s parents. Everything she does certainly seems pre-planned and uncanny- other members of the Taylor family comment that she literally “doesn’t blink.” Ellen Taylor, meanwhile, admits that she didn’t recognise Liz at first, but soon remembers that she was a former student who had ‘radical’ ideologies. Despite her husband’s attempts to reassure her by saying “people change”, Ellen remains concerned and apparently believes that Liz is trying to use Josh to expand her movement. It certainly seems like Liz is trying to manipulate the family and cause division- but is there more to her than meets the eye? Finally, Ellen mentions near the end of the trailer that Josh’s sister has gone missing, just when Liz turns up.
What else do we know, and is there a release date?
Mckenna Grace plays another member of the Taylor family, Birdie, with the rest of the cast including Zoey Deutch (Juror 2), Daryl McCormack (Interview with the Vampire), Madeline Brewer (You) and Rebecca O’Mara (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice). Anniversary is set to release on October 29th.
