Did somebody mention it is cold? Hunker down on chilly January nights and spruce up your bedroom aesthetic at the same time, with our edit of the best, cosiest bed spreads.

It is no secret we love a quick interiors update here at The Handbook and when they marry up with practical home additions that will keep you snug and warm throughout the cold spell, well, happy days.

This week we’re all over the humble bed spread, from traditional chintzy vibes that are giving grandma’s spare room (chicer than it sounds, we promise) to inky velvets to add mood and pared back muted colour tones for those who prefer a clean interiors look.

Scroll to shop our favourite, because eery bed deserves an indulgent bed spread…

We have long loved Piglet In Bed’s linen bedding but this season are investing in their charming gingham print throw. Layer on top of the duvet in the winter months or pair with a flat sheet for a lighter cover in the summer.

For those who prefer a clean bedroom aesthetic, look to The White Company, naturally, for their waffle knit throws that feel really heavy and luxurious on top of the duvet – it’s also well worth checking out their sales as they can be quite expensive – or Zara for the prettiest, ruffle-trim spread we’ve ever seen.

You can always rely on Soho Home to bring some five-star hotel luxury to your abode. Their Osprey throw will add a ’60s edge to your sleeping quarters paired with contrasting layers of silk and velvet to make it all feel a bit Mad Men.
