Black Mirror Season 6

It’s been sorely missed for the past few years, but sci-fi dystopian anthology series, Black Mirror, is finally heading back to our screens this month following Season 5’s finale in 2019.

Black Mirror Season 6 will be back on Netflix, with a slate of thought-provoking and often disturbing stories about humans and technology. Head writer Charlie Brooker will be running the show once again and there’ll be a few A-listers facing new dystopian horrors too.

Here’s everything we know about Black Mirror Season 6

The new season is already being billed by Netflix as “the most unpredictable season yet”, teasing that the show is “reinventing itself.” Last time around, big names in the cast included Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Andrew Scott, Pom Klementieff and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Black Mirror Season 6 will be no less star-studded.

Celebs appearing include Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, seen prominently in the promos released so far, as well as Kate Mara, Josh Hartnett, Michael Cera, Rob Delaney, Zazie Beets and Salma Hayek Pinault.

In classic Charlie Brooker style, the showrunner said the crew is “[a] roster of disgustingly skillful, smart directors working with a cast of actors so talented they frankly have no right to exist.”

Thanks in part to its anthology format Black Mirror has always been a show that evolves, from humble beginnings as a Channel 4 series with a mostly British cast to a blockbuster Netflix series with Hollywood names. Speaking in an interview for Netflix’s Tudum site, Brooker said “I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect… … this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is.” Expect the unexpected then, with stories set to reach new heights in creepy dystopian drama.

Of course, not much has been revealed about the actual stories themselves, as that would be giving away the surprises. But we can gleam a few things from the teaser trailer: from the opening shot it looks like Black Mirror Season 6 will once again be going into space as it (sort of) did in the Season 4 episode USS Callister- and this looks to be Aaron Paul’s episode. Another ep seems to be taking place in possibly 50s or 60s America, and one in what looks like present day. Most of the big names are featured, with Salma Hayek Pinault, Zazie Beets and Kate Mara all be glimpsed- all to a cover of The Ink Spots’ I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire.

Black Mirror season 6 will land on netflix on Netflix on 15th June 2023, with all episodes dropping at once
