We Visited Coworth Park: Here’s Why We Loved It
It’s not every day you get invited to a countryside escape with the elegance, charm, and luxury of Coworth Park. Just outside London, set in the idyllic Berkshire countryside, this beautiful retreat offers more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience to savour. I visited (without any children), after a two-week half term with 5 children, I was beginning to seek solace and was delighted to discover that Coworth Park’s reputation is well-earned. Here’s why I fell in love with it…
The Location
Set on a sprawling 240-acre estate, Coworth Park is renowned for its quintessentially English charm, offering everything from manicured gardens and lush meadows to two professional polo fields and a lake. The enchanting meadows change with the seasons, making it easy to see why visitors fall in love with this countryside haven. Strolling through the golden autumn leaves or wandering through the edible garden, it’s a perfect destination to unwind and reconnect with nature.

The Suites
The suites at Coworth Park are an absolute dream. As soon as I stepped inside, I was struck by the perfect blend of modern luxury and classic charm. The room was spacious, with large windows letting in plenty of natural light, and the décor struck a cosy yet refined note with its warm colours and furnishings. The super king bed was incredibly inviting, with soft linens that promised a restful night, and the bathroom felt like a private spa—complete with both a freestanding copper bathtub and a walk-in, marble-clad shower, I could relax in the bathtub with The Book of Idle Pleasures (thoughtfully provided alongside the bath) as my companion. Or take a refreshing shower, depending on my mood.
Little details made it feel extra special: there was a bottle of champagne waiting, and a selection of cakes that felt like a welcome treat after an afternoon exploring the estate. The suite’s layout was thoughtful too, with a separate sitting area where I could relax or read in peace. It was truly a sanctuary, and I felt instantly at home but minus the chaos of 5 children..

The Spa
When it comes to indulgence, the spa at Coworth Park is truly one of the best in its class. We were treated to the serene, tranquil pool and the ultimate relaxation of a HydraFacial—one of the best I’ve had, leaving my skin rejuvenated and glowing. From the soothing interiors to the skilled therapists, the spa delivers on every level, making it easy to forget the outside world. The only downside was being told I should keep the products on and not apply any make up, given I was eating in the restaurant an hour later and I did not want to go to dinner slightly red-faced, I had to decide to ignore these instructions.
For those seeking a blend of relaxation, natural beauty, and fine dining just a stone’s throw from London, Coworth Park is a destination that exceeds all expectations.
Food + Drink
I have to say I had been counting down the hours for dinner, having heard so much about Adam Smith’s incredible restaurant Woven. Opened in February 2023 and awarded a Michelin star just six months later, it’s clear from the start why this restaurant has quickly become a dining destination. At Woven, Chef Adam Smith brings the best of British produce to life with storytelling on a plate. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted with seasonal ingredients, from fresh seafood and locally foraged mushrooms to hand-picked herbs. The meal was a true culinary journey, with each bite revealing more about the land, the season, and the dedication behind the dish. Be prepared to come hungry—Woven is the kind of place where you’ll want to savour every single bite.

Woven by Adam Smith
Dining at Woven by Adam Smith took us on a whole different culinary adventure—caviar was a recurring theme, and it added an exquisite touch to each dish. Our standouts were the caviar tart, a delicacy that set the tone for the entire meal. The cornish turbot and lobster with truffle, cauliflower and salted grapes, were quite literally out of this world. Another highlight, billed as Coronation Chicken, was easily one of the best bites we’ve had all year. This dish featured a Cotswold white chicken wing, marinated for 24 hours in a fragrant blend of salt, curry leaves, garlic, ginger, and coriander. It’s then confit, pressed, deep-fried, and glazed in a reduction of green apple juice with the same spices and topped with coconut and coriander cream. All that effort paid off in a single bite, each flavour unfolding in layers of aromatic bliss. Between the rustic charm of The Barn and the Michelin-starred luxury of Woven, Coworth Park offers a unique culinary journey that is both sophisticated and deeply satisfying.

The Barn
For a more relaxed, rustic dining experience, The Barn at Coworth Park is a delight. The restaurant embodies low-key luxury, serving hearty, seasonal dishes that make you feel at home while indulging in the finest flavours. We opted for the pork, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever eaten—perfectly cooked, each bite full of savoury goodness that I savoured down to the very last mouthful. The atmosphere at The Barn is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a laid-back meal.
