The question
If you could eat at one place in London, where would it be?
Our Editor’s answer
In my role, I’m lucky enough to experience some of London’s best and buzziest restaurants – a tough gig, I know – which makes narrowing it down no easy feat. So rather than dodge the question, I’m sharing my overall top pick, plus a few honourable mentions that deserve your attention.

Favourite overall: Juno

I’d call this a truly special dining experience. Hidden behind Los Mochis in Notting Hill, Juno is an intimate, six-seater omakase counter led by Executive Chef Leonard Tanyag. Across 15 courses, you’re guided through each dish, often hearing the story behind the ingredients, before being handed every plate directly by the chef. Expect everything from pristine sashimi to delicate, flame-cooked creations that fuse Japanese precision with subtle Mexican flair (this is Los Mochis, after all).
The menu is entirely gluten-free, a huge win if you’re catering for dietary needs, and you can opt for either a wine or sake pairing. It’s a special-occasion spot, but one that stays with you long after you’ve left.

Favourite new opening: Bistro Sablé

One of Islington’s latest arrivals, Bistro Sablé is a French bistro I can’t stop recommending. I went a few weeks ago and, hands down, it served the best beef bourguignon and French onion soup I’ve ever had. The staff are charming, the interiors warm and inviting, and the fire flickering in the corner doesn’t hurt either. I’ll definitely be back.
I adored it so much, I wrote a full review. Read it here.

Favourite pub: Lore Of The Land

Almost impossible to get a reservation at, but worth every bit of effort, Guy Ritchie‘s Fitzrovia pub is the best pub roast I’ve ever had – and believe me when I say ‘I’ve had my fair share’. When my mum was visiting from Sydney last month, and I only had time to take her to one pub, this was the one I chose. It’s polished, cool, and every single dish I’ve had here has been impeccable.

Favourite cheap eat: Yangguofu Malatang London

A recent discovery and already a repeat favourite. If you’re craving a big bowl of deeply comforting broth brimming with noodles, veg and whatever extras you fancy, this is your place. You fill your bowl with ingredients, pay by weight, select your broth, and then spend as long as you want slurping away on the bowl of goodness.
