8 London Desserts You Have To Try
Is there any better indulgence when dining out than saying screw it and ordering a dessert? The thing is, to minimise guilt, you’re better off only pulling the trigger on something *really* good – thankfully London has a whole host of spots that fit the bill. From XL lemon meringue pies and pistachio tiramisu to photogenic trifles, here are the best desserts you have to try in London.
Tiramisu, La Mamma Mia
London’s best tiramisu might well deserve its own article (stay tuned) but for now, we’re shouting out La Mamma Mia. Their classic recipe is delicious, but it’s their pistachio number that really pushes it over the edge. Basically, you have to try it.

Sticky Toffee Pudding, The Devonshire
The Guinness gets the headlines, but the restaurant is the real underrated star of The Devonshire. The menu features delicious twists on classic recipes and their sticky toffee pudding has become the stuff of legend. Topped with ice cream and caramelised banana, it’s the best we’ve seen on this staple British dessert.

Basque Cheesecake, Le Maritxu
The Basque region in Spain is, possibly, the culinary centre of the world, with more Michelin-star restaurants per capita than anywhere else. Thankfully, places like La Maritxu share some of this wealth with the rest of us.
Run by three sisters from the area, this is a true labour of love, serving up traditional and delicious Basque cheesecake. The burnt exterior and rich creamy middle prompts a queue down the street from its Paddington location.

Baklava, Berenjak
Our favourite spot for all things Persian, of course Berenjak delivers a mouth-watering twist on the iconic baklava. Following the fool-proof train of thought that ice cream improves almost anything, it’s half an XL baklava and half an ice-cream sandwich, combining flaky filo pastry, honey, pistachio and Turkish ice cream.

Seasonal Trifle, Cadogan Arms
A good contender for the most photogenic dessert, the seasonal fruit trifle at The Cadogan Arms is a showstopper. Whether that’s strawberries in the summer or blackberries in the autumn, it will be paired with heapings of cream, custard and crumble and stunningly presented.

Lemon Meringue Pie, Gloria
For the most extra dessert in London, head to Gloria for their lemon meringue pie. The twist is, that they’ve heaped an absolute mountain of meringue, enough to make you concerned about a London-wide meringue shortage.

Crumble, Humble Crumble
Humble Crumble began with the simple question: “Why doesn’t London have any dedicated spots for crumble?” Judging by the regular queues out the door of each of its locations, clearly, it was a question well worth asking.
Featuring sustainable and freshly sourced produce and an array of some of the most creative desserts in the capital, this is a must-visit. Choose from a selection of regular crumbles as well as seasonal specials, with toppings including everything like custard, fresh fruit, ice cream, and melted chocolate.
