11 of the Best New Year’s Eve Feasts

Post-Christmas and Pre-New Year sits that awkward time of year many refer to as ‘Chrimbo Limbo’. During this time it is customary to panic about New Year’s Eve plans that may have fallen through or may have never happened in the first place. If you fall into the ‘low-key’ camp of celebrations, read on for our pick of the best spots to dine in as you see in 2016 – make it a night to remember, not a night to forget.


What: A buzzy dinner followed by cocktails and music

Why: Just a short walk from Oxford Street, 5 star Hyatt Regency is welcoming non-residents to their Montagu restaurant and Churchill Bar for New Year’s Eve. Canapés and champagne will kick off the night, followed by a six-course dinner and live music in the restaurant, which has a neighbourhood feel, with views over Portman Square (we can dream). After dinner head through to the magical festive Churchill Bar and terrace for cocktails, more champagne and music.

What: Laid back 5 star, 5 course dinner

Why: Arty family-owned boutique hotel The Arch is naturally evolving its festive celebrations come the 31st December. The hotel’s Hunter 586 restaurant and bar champions British food, with a street-food inspired twist – for New Year’s Eve an indulgent five-course dinner of scallop carpaccio and roast loin of venison comes with champagne and live music.

What: Intimate and sophisticated French dining

Why: Smart French restaurant Boulestin are making their a la carte menu extra special for New Year’s Eve with seared fois gras, lobster consommé with lobster tortellini and their trademark Sauternes custard. The dining area itself has an authentic French feel to it with black and white checkered floor tiles, black and white artwork and white tablecloths, and because it’s French they know their wine – a Coravin system stores 27 types in the perfect condition.

What: Festive atmosphere whilst overlooking the beautiful Piazza

Why: Soak up the festive cheer in the Covent Garden based restaurant with a special NYE set menu which includes options like smoked salmon and lobster terrine, and monkfish wrapped in bacon. The delicious 3 course set menu includes a glass of Prosecco too but if you’re a fan of Tuttons already then their A La Carte menu will also be available.

What: Resident DJ in the bar until 1am

Why: Kick off things with a glass of NV Billecart-Salmon, Brut Réserve Champagne on arrival and end things on the right note with an after dinner cocktail. In between will see a 3 course dinner created by Executive Chef, Diego Cardoso, with sides to share that features dishes like potted duck with chicken liver parfait and cranberry compote, and roast pumpkin tortellini with chestnut cream and haytor cheese. Resident DJ Luke Hope will also be playing in the bar until 1am providing a musical back drop.

What: Sensational 5 course set menu

Why: Spend your NYE feasting on a sensational 5 course set menu created by Head Chef Daniel McGarey which includes not only dessert but pre-dessert – NYE resolutions about diets will come into play after they have both been consumed. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of Champagne before settling down for dinner which will begin with amuse bouche.

What: New Year’s Day Brunch

Why: Ok so this isn’t a New Year’s Eve menu it’s a New Year’s Day bottomless brunch, but trust us this will be the saviour of your New Year’s Eve. Drink Bloody Mary’s or cocktails in Asia de Cuba with a three course bottomless brunch which includes limitless signature Mexican doughnuts! It’s part of their New Year’s Eve package which includes a cocktails in their bar Blind Spot and a 3pm checkout so you can nurse your sore head.

What: La Dolce Vita inspired New Year’s Eve

Why: Finish off the year with a spectacular seven course gala dinner at Amaranto at the Four Seasons. Inspired by La Dolce Vita, dishes will include 45 days aged beef fillet with parmesan crust, truffle mash and wild mushrooms and mascarpone mousse with chocolate crémeux and coffee ice cream – you can also choose to match it with wines too. Afterwards they’ll be music from the Nero Martini Group and dancing until the small hours – if you can move after all that food that is!

What: Las Vegas Themed Evening

Why: Smith and Wollensky are welcoming in the New Year by taking you to Las Vegas! Well not quite, what did you expect, a free flight? No instead they’ll have music from Suspiciously Elvis, a casino where prizes include tickets to the theatre and a pretheatre dinner at Smith and Wollensky. The sumptuous three course meal includes the likes of lobster bisque, beef Wellington and advocaat and redcurrant baked Alaska.

What: However suave or casual you like

Why: For an intimate neighbourhood feel to your New Year’s Eve despite being surrounded by strangers, you can’t go wrong with The Newman Street Tavern. Don’t be mislead by the word ‘tavern’ – this venue serve slick British food and on New Year’s Eve can be as casual or suave as you like. The a la carte menu is available as usual for those wanting a low-key evening, or for something a bit more fancy, a 6-course a la carte tasting menu with sea urchins, venison and dark chocolate tart is yours for the taking.

What: Best of both worlds

Why: For the best of both worlds this New Year, why not be in a slick club environment for your meal?
