7 Craic-ing Ways to Celebrate St Paddy’s Day

14th March 2016 | By Emily Gray

Of all the days dedicated to patron saints, it’s St Patrick’s Day that everyone seems to get excited about. Maybe it’s something to do with the Guinness, maybe it’s to do with the whisky, the carb-laden Colcannon or the all round good craic. Whatever it might be, if you haven’t sorted your plans for Thursday check out some of the ideas below and make sure you have your hangover cures at the ready for Friday.

Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings

Irish Banquet

Bourne and Hollingsworth are going all out with whisky tasting, stories of the Emerald Isle and finishing with dancing to Irish band – Charlie McCarthy a Poitín aficionado (that’s an underated Irish distilled beverage) will be hosting, oh and there’ll be the small matter of a five-course Irish banquet that will include dishes such as braised Irish beef, colcannon potatoes and buttered kale, and Irish stout chocolate pudding with rhubarb fool.

Mr Fogg's Tavern

Mr Fogg's Irish Cousin

Adventurer, explorer and all round good guy Phileas J.Fogg is inviting his favourite Irish cousin, Seamus Fogg over to host Mr Fogg’s Tavern’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations. Seamus has brought his Irish band over to play throughout the evening and has roped in the bartenders to serve up bespoke cocktails using Tullamore Dew whiskey. If you’re feeling hungry then you’re in luck as the chefs are going to be cooking up a traditional Irish stew which will be on the menu for the rest of the month, if you can’t make it down on the 17th because you don’t like parties and are staying in.

Live Irish music will be played throughout the afternoon. All for a rather nice £25 for two courses or £29 for three. Grand.
